Those pictures are from the 70's. The Soviets stupidly and unnecessarily stirred that pot by invading that shithole. We didn't "support" the Mujadeen; we opposed the Soviets.

well. you are partly right , in 50s Frenchmen visited Egypt all Arab lands like our old men visited Thailand , KSA in 70s invested milliards dollars in salafi - wahhabism abroad which changed Islamic world forever . in the same time Egyptian clerics are much more liberal today than 10 years ago
