The bedroom communities surrounding DC are some of the wealthiest in the nation...their wealth comes through DC courtesy of the US taxpayer. Four of the six wealthiest counties in the country are in VA on the outskirts of DC. They don't suffer recessions or job insecurities like the rest of us. (although it could be said they start to sweat upon hearing words like government accountability, transparency or fiscal restraint, lol). Unfortunately few but the upper, upper middle class and the poor can 'afford' to live there. The poor serve a useful purpose - we must have our nannies, household help and yard men. Naturally those counties vote Democrat - just simple government mid and lower level bureaucrats, government contractors, lobbyists, etc. protecting their way of life.

I am not, and never have been a government employee.There is range of wealth in NOVA, from very poor to very rich.
Revenue and spending have to be balanced. This constant cutting of the revenue stream, which has been going on for decades, is ridiculous. As for a regulation, it depends on what that regulation is designed to accomplish. I'm certainly not for more pollution, more workplace injuries, more unwanted pregnancies, more untreated sick people, more right-wing religious propaganda, or for worse schools and less public parks and spaces.
