Actual gun defense..robber has gun pointed at victims...and loses to armed good guy...

You're finally getting it huh?

Other people's choices are none of your business

You act like I've said make guns illegal. I've said for many they are not made safer. If someone chooses to carry i want them to have all the facts. Why is that such a problem for you?

They already know the risks. They don't need your opinion

I'm not sure they do. Most on this board don't really seem to know.

They know. Every gun owner knows.

The world is full of stupid people who do stupid things. Why do you want to base your behavior on what stupid people do?

They sure are good at hiding it then.

Please tell me why you want to base your choices on what stupid people do instead of weighing the risks as they pertain to you?

Let's see the alarm company first calls you if the alarm goes off. If you have a gun to your head you don't pick up. Then they call your next 2 contacts on their list then they call the cops and in my case it takes at least 30 minutes for a cop to get to me.

So how long is a person supposed to wait ?

The alarm keeps the gun from getting to your head so quickly. And now the intruder needs to worry about police or neighbors coming. Most will go find an easier target.

Again your opinion.

People know that alarms do not mean instantaneous police intervention

There are some good statistics out there on alarms.

Depends on where you live doesn't it?

Like I said it will take a cop at least 30 minutes to get to me.

Sure does. Cop might be in the neighborhood and could be much shorter.

We don't have cops patrolling my neighborhood. I have to wait for a state trooper dispatched from a barracks 35 miles away

So when seconds count the cops are only 30 minutes away.

I'm actually saying each person should weigh the risks and decide. I just want them to understand the risks. But I'm also saying for most it doesn't make them safer.

You can't cure stupid.

I don't make personal choices based on the idiocy of others.

Tell me have you ever been swimming?

Don't you know that people drown?

You better not ever swim again.

It's unlikely to happen if you don't swim alone and lifeguards are there.

Yet people still drown every year

So you better not go in the water.

Do you live in fear of fires and car accidents too?

I'm not scared, hence why I dont feel the need to carry a gun everywhere.

You live your life based on accident statistics.

So you are obviously afraid of accidents.

And I have already said that I don't carry a gun everywhere.

A gun is a tool that is all.

Nope. Need a car to go places.

But more people die in car accidents than kill themselves in a gun accident.

And do you have stairs in your house?

People fall down stairs all the time and get injured.

You better not ever climb stairs again

And you are naive if you think everyone with a gun is safer. Was the bra holster woman safer?

Apparently his lives his life worrying that other people think differently.

Seems to REALLY bother him.

Most people use a car every single day. Most people will never need a gun. By the hour of use guns are FAR more dangerous.

The last is your opinion.

And your opinion is meaningless to most people.

it's just none of your business. If no one is asking you for your advice then they obviously don't want it.

So, lets see, I should forego my own armed security, because the cops that are usually an hour away MIGHT be closer due to a broke down car?

Geez.

Yes it is my opinion. It's backed pretty well by stats though. There are a lot of dead people who could have used my advice.

I use a vehicle about once a week.

I have gun nearby every minute of every day.

I have had car wrecks, never a gun accident.

We are not talking danger. Your entire position is based on firearm accidents and that is the reason people should not have guns.

If a person wants to take the risk that firearms entail it is their choice and your opinion is unasked.

it's normal for him.

He makes his choice based on his experiences not yours or anyone else's

No, I do not think it is "the norm".

But, living 25 miles from a police station, and living alone, it is sensible.

Not every one lives around sane people in gated communities with dependable police.

I certainly don't need your approval to exercise my legal rights.

Brain is just baiting you......his responses are now just to irritate us......I don't think he means harm like some of the others....but it can still be annoying....
