ACLU: Feds arresting Portland protesters in unmarked cars "unconstitutional"

It's unconstitutional.... it's a federal task force trump created to protect federal statues...in some of these instances.

They are out on the streets arresting g and shooting peaceful protesters with rubber bullets to the head of one guy, still in the hospital with fractured skull,

And are no where near a federal statue or federal building.... They are not given Miranda rights, not told what they are being arrested for, dragged off in unmarked rental cars, taken to federal buildings and not jails, and released when they mention the first word about them breaking their civil rights.... is what it said on the news.... And the city law enforcement and government do not know who they are, nor their rules of engagement etc....

Hey cupcake, your "peaceful protesters" set yet ANOTHER building on fire tonight. You conveniently failed to acknowledge the previous acts of violence and vandalism I posted... want to ignore this one too?

July 19th, your "peaceful protesters" try to smash their way through the wooden barriers erected to protect the federal courthouse they've been attacking for 2 weeks. This is AFTER they ripped down the perimeter fences, mind you.

July 19th, your "peaceful protesters" are CHALLENGING federal officers to come out and fight them in the streets. Do you recognize your own idiocy yet, or do you need CNN to tell you you're a ******* moron before you realize it?

The Federal camo officers are not there to protect the Portland police dept or Portland.

They are only legally there to protect federal buildings and statues.

Protesters are worthless scum and need to be treated as such.

One can only hope the protesters get their brains beat with billy clubs.

BUT MUH FREEDOMS crowd rioting, burning and looting? DURR
They are abducting peaceful protesters.

It's difficult to rely on a source or who they interview when they print lies like this:

"The actions of the militarised federal officers are flat-out unconstitutional and will not go unanswered," he added.

And you leftists like to only post part of the story instead of all of it:

Mark Pettibone, a 29-year-old demonstrator, said he was terrified when an unmarked van pulled up next to him on Wednesday and men with green military fatigues jumped out and detained him.

Mr Pettibone said he was taken to the federal courthouse and later released without being told why he had been detained, or whether he had been charged with a crime.

In a statement on Friday, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said its agents were behind the arrest carried out as they "had information indicating the person in the video was suspected of assaults against federal agents or destruction of federal property."

"Once CBP agents approached the suspect, a large and violent mob moved towards their location," the agency said in a statement sent to AFP.

"For everyone's safety, CBP agents quickly moved the suspect to a safer location for further questioning.

My mother is a retired weighmaster ... as a commercial truck driver, you're subject to the UCC ... just like construction companies are subject to OSHA ... food processing companies are subject to FDA ... etc etc etc ...

Notice the word "commercial" and "companies" in the above ... now compare to the text of the Constitution ... ah, you see ... you voluntarily agreed to these searches when you accepted your CDL ... just like I volunteered to be subject to OHSA inspections when I registered with the Construction Board ... in your case, it was Congress who passed a law stating the reasonableness of inspecting semi-trucks on public roads ... you know why, my information is second hand from the horror stories my mother told ... brakes dangling, drivers on the road 30 straight hours, every winter she had to help fish dead bodies out of ravines because of greedy truckers ... I'm subject to State laws where the legislature stated the reasonableness of inspecting workplace safety ... greedy employers ...

It doesn't matter if you have a CDL or not, you can be certified to pilot 737's for all I care ... walking down the sidewalk the 4th Amendment is in full force, you can't be detained by police unless they have probable cause you've committed or are committing a crime ... how the hell could you possible think otherwise? ...

I know ... you're not using your Constitutional rights ... so the Gubbermint can go ahead and take them for all you care ...

If they were suspected of a crime they wouldn't just get released a few hours later.

So....they arrest them.....and the Feds are bad.....they release them after processing them....the feds are bad....

You left wing assholes need to really get your stories straight.

You Cult45 fascist pricks should learn about the law instead of getting your talking points from talk radio. DEFUND TALK RADIO

Right wing talk radio is not funded, they sell advertising. Left wing talk is funded by taxpayers like PBS and NPR.
I'm sickened and disgusted by the far right radical extremists here on this thread. They show another one of their "beliefs" is like all their other "beliefs." Nothing but a bunch of BS.

Their belief is hate. They love to hate.

All they know is hate for anyone who doesn't agree with them.

In fairness, I believe it's simply Cult45 herd mentality from the *pResident down. Constant brain washing and feeding of talking points from talk radio and right wing rags like OANN. These talking points are usually word for word.

The lens of reality is being suppressed by these people. The hate is a side effect of willful ignorance. You are either believe this or you are automatically disparaged as this. No critical thought required. Stockholm syndrome for the poorly informed.

A small minority of radicals (many on this forum) in one political tribe believe they represent the interests of an entire political party. Another small minority of radicals from the other political tribe believes the same. Both minorities broad brush the two political parties in the same ways and the hate multiplies.

It's all fantasy. Ironically, many from both tribes don't even vote.

Your tribe however, is the one out on the streets wrecking shit.

No it isn't. That's why I assert you live in a fantasy world. I can't help you with your condition if you refuse to see the weeds growing in your own back yard, pal.
Help yourself. Read a history book.

Yes, as they have with truck drivers. You made my point. There are are exceptions. We don't follow the Constitution to the letter of the law. We bend them under certain circumstances. That's why a convicted felon cannot own or use a firearm. That's why most can't vote once out of prison.

Do you really think these lying punks or lying MSM are telling you the truth; that these agents are randomly picking up people for no reason? With the hundreds of lowlife troublemakers there, do you think they have that kind of time for such nonsense?

Your problem is you don't understand how your media works. You don't understand their motivation. It's not to report, it's to make money. When they can rile up people like you to go and protest, it's a success for them. If they can rile you up enough to riot, even better. If people are killed in the process, the media throws parties. The more people killed, the more successful the media is. That's their motivation, and that's how they work.

You don't condemn the violence, you either ignore it or try to justify it.

I've condemned it. More BS from you.

Half ass condemnations at best.

tearing down a statue is violence, stopping a person from driving where they want to is violence.

Tearing down a statue is vandalism. The second one? I'll need more context. If they're pulling a driver out of their car and beating the shit out of them? Then yes, that's violence. Gimme more info.

What info do you need? when you surround a persons car and stop them from going where they want to go, you are implying force, no matter how passive you may seem.

Correct. WTF would make you believe I support something like that? Are you mental? I'm a normal, hard working person. No, sorry, I don't condone that.

Then why do you disagree with federal officers going in to enforce the law when State/local level governments refuse to do so?

Because of how they enforced it. Feds plucking random citizens off the street without properly identifying themselves and taking them to gawd knows where federal building in unmarked, civilian vehicles for processing seems to me to be a blatant infringement of basic civil rights. Jeezus dude, you really don't see a problem with that? Has your partisanship clouded your mind that much? If so, we don't have anything further to talk about. I'm an advocate of our constitutional rights, and that kind of 'enforcement' is complete politically motivated bullshit to me.

They supposedly had patches ID'ing themselves as Borders and Customs agents.

Do all cops ID themselves and tell every person they arrest exactly where they are going?

The Amish I like.
My mother was born to a Mennonite family ... she grew up with the head covering, regular style dress and sat on the woman's side of the congregation ...

The tale hasn't been passed on as to why all my male relatives of a certain age fought in WWII ... certainly didn't make us Mennonites ... she took us boys to a Methodist Church yeah, hated liquor
We're probably related.

The Trump administration is under fire for arresting people without the suspicion of a crime, and without identifying themselves, making it easy for others to pretend to be law enforcement agents.
Federal agents in green camouflage uniforms have been taking into custody people in the streets of Portland, not close to federal property that they were sent to protect, in what the ACLU of Oregon on Friday said "should concern everyone in the United States."

"Usually when we see people in unmarked cars forcibly grab someone off the street we call it kidnapping. The actions of the militarized federal officers are flat-out unconstitutional and will not go unanswered," said Jann Carson, interim executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Oregon.

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown said President Donald Trump, who deployed Department of Homeland Security officers to Portland, "is looking for a confrontation in Oregon in the hopes of winning political points in Ohio or Iowa."
Since when is using “unmarked cars” unconstitutional? Police have always been using unmarked cars.

The difference is I quoted the law ... Universal Commercial Code ... written by Congress, signed by the President ... please, your turn ... quote me the law that says LEO can detain and transport someone from the sidewalk just to get their ID? ...

Actually ... I'm relying on acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf's quoted statements posted up-thread ...

I get my information from a variety of media sources ... so I was certainly skeptical of the first reports I found in Willamette Week or NPR ... but then the tactics were officially confirmed ... from a Cabinet Secretary no less ...

Why are you all riled up? ... what business is it of yours what folks in Portland want to do? ... it would seem it is you who doesn't understand how media works ...
