My mother takes that, it seems to work well for her.

I hate taking prescriptions, though.

I took a couple other things for acid reflux over the years, then they started me on omeprazol and that works like a charm, and there are no known side effects. Been taking it for 10 years probably and I haven't had a bit of acid reflux.

I have already fractured my foot and have tendonitis in my ankle. It is very likely due to my 2 a day nexium habit. I now take liquid magnesium every day and get my share of calcium. Old people are even more susceptable I have spent HOURS on ask a patient and read horror stories of ALL acid reflux drugs. You are only supposed to be on them for 4-8 weeks max. (not kidding). You need acid to break down food in digestion. Also over time you develop a lot of problems in your gut due to lack of acid.

I don't drink coffee anymore; cant eat spicy food or chocolate. But I do drink several english toffee capachinos from Tim Horton's and I use a product that helps a ton. I was actually going to be a distributer for this company, for the owner. This product PREVENTS the heartburn in the first place when drinking coffee or eating spicy foods.

I guess I do everything I shouldn't be doing if I want to hold down acid reflux. I drink coffee, I eat chocolate, I eat spicy foods, and if I forget to take my daily omeprazole, I can tell later on or the next day. I can feel the acid building up. I've never tried to change my eating habits or stop drinking coffee, but if taking omeprazole ever does start to cause me side effect problems, I might have to.

007- (nice name)- a few quick tips. Take a small amount (daily) of apple cider vinegar with water each morning. Do not wear belts. Rise not only your head up but your ENTIRE bed at least 30 degrees. Do not eat after 8pm. ABSOLUTELY a huge fan of GAVISCON tablets. TAKE TWO just before bed. A literal life saver. They are the best thing on the market. Orange Burst flavor is the best. Trust me.
