Good for you! You'll love it. Don't get talked into blowing all your dough in some club in Roppongi. Find a nice little izakaya and settle in. Get your drink on, try lots of little dishes (I recommend the raw horse meat, chilled with shaved apple on top). If you can get down to Kyushu (not very near to Tokyo, I'm afraid), you can take in a day of the Grand Sumo Tournament.

Actually, ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease) is adult onset. Only 1% of sufferers show any symptoms before age 25.
 
Hopefully things like this can lead to greater opportunity and inclusion for people with disabilities in all areas of society.
