Ok, first a couple of definitions, for you to all place this defensive masterplan for NATO and the EU in it's proper historical understanding in your minds and hearts.
Once upon a time, a man in Eastern Europe or Russia (i don't know exactly where), thought up an governmental economic theory, which was named after him.
The man was called Karl Marx, and his governmental rule-set became known first as Marxism, then as Communism, and from there it spread into China where under an Atheist CCP government it is now called 'meritocracy'.
But it still has capitalist elements in it, since oligarchs and the Chinese super-wealthy industrialists can pretty much be compared in their life-styles and economic spending patterns with western top business leaders.
In South-America and Middle- and North-America, communism is simply called socialism.
And Muslim fundamentalists, the people who live today (and in the future!) by the more violent rules from the earliest Quran Holy Books, are called in the west simply Muslim terrorists or Muslim extremists.
I've fought on online forums (marokko.nl, defence.pk) against Muslim terrorism recruiters online first, for 20 years, and found that there are reasonable negotiators among them, who are willing to have a 'firm discussion about why so many people have to suffer during a war'.
I've talked with the Palestinians on their online forum, but got blocked from that forum after honoring them for their pain and suffering, and calling them honerable warriors. Probably by my CIA trainers.
I've talked with the folks at IsraelMilitary.net for a little while, but they found my ideas about making peace with the Palestinians so repulsive that they've now IP-banned me for life.
But..
If we see the world (the human side of it, not the Pacific WaterWorld Side), as West defending itself against East with superior firepower, and the East defending itself with a harsher attitude about nearly all things related to war than the Westerners, but BOTH sides having allies in eachother's natural zone of interest (Venezuela gets oil from Iran and the US these days), the US, Canada and the EU still needs BOTH Chinas, mainland China for clothing and other major consumer goods, Taiwan for more high-tech consumer goods, and Japan as a TOURIST DESTINATION,
even i can see the value of keeping the sea traffic lanes protected against all hostilities, at all times.
and President Biden has recently said about Taiwan that he would order the US military to support it in case of a US invasion.
Despite what the Democratic Party made of it a few hours later ("we'll stick to strategic ambiguity"), this is a very serious warning to China, not to proceed with their invasion plans against Taiwan, regardless of which major US political party (Democrats / Republicans) is in power at any given time.
and i *was* and *am* serious about my *tip* to see mr Buttigieg elected as US President when Biden considers himself too old to run again for office, or after his 2 terms are up.
and as a European, we often have political parties that rule the country for an entire generation, or Kings with families that rule the country for hundreds of years.
this is no different in Russia, China, OR the USA.
So what i propose simply is that on the military agenda's, we play nice. We don't risk a WW3 anymore. We avoid all the casualties and severe suffering among soldiers and civilians that real war always brings to a region or the world (WW1, WW2, even the arms production work back in the USA was hard and uncomfortable by my estimation).
And how would we do that?
We hold the western defensive perimiters at the following points : the seas south of South Africa, the seas on the Western side of Portugal, the Seas around the British Isles (the Netherlands, my country assisting the British with friendly forces towards the Belgians and French, and with assertive forces towards Germany and Denmark, because that's still a point where the Russians could send in their remaining military might (land forces, missile batteries, tanks, that sort of thing). And we protect Iceland with British and US and Canadian forces. But we hold most of the North American naval forces in their docks in North America, to allow for training runs of new crews near to home.
And the Russians and Chinese would do the same, towards the South China Sea, and North of mid-Eastern Russia
There.
Can i get a Nobel Peace Prize for this? <grin>
