Seriously? Have you ever been to the rural areas of Mexico?It goes without saying Mexico's economy and living standards in no way justify this.
Most of Mexico is fine, the worst off are those living in shacks working at American companies for cents an hour.
Other than that, Mexico is a pretty decent place to live.
These kids are here for another reason - the Mexican government wanting to shed costly orphans? The Cartel sending over kids to use in drug sales? All of the above?
The one thing they are not - is children of normal Mexican families. Indeed, they are more family loyal than we are.
There is only one way to stymie the immigration here: remove the advantages of doing so. Trump was actually doing that as well as the rhetoric that he pushed. Biden is not so the flow starts back up again. Trump was not addressing the core problems though and his strategy of making the trip far worse so the advantages seemed less enticing was a piss poor way to deal with immigration. The advantages need to be dealt with.It's really the progressives. Nothing Biden can do will satisfy them. You may remember they were angry that Obama was deporting more than anyone ever deported before .... or after.
The progressives want these potential immigrants to be allowed into the country and humanely held pending determinations. As Trump found out the hard way, the US const requires people receive certain rights when they acquiesce to be subject to our laws. These people naturally want those rights, and they are truly desperate. Trump's solution was ultimately to just not let them in, and that was the major change from Obama. If they snuck over the border, and were arrested, he tossed them back over, just like Obama did. Some made it across desert. Some died. And people stopped coming in such large numbers.
It seems akin to me like survivors in the water from a disaster and a ship putting over nets to let people climb to safety, but there are more nets than people. When the survivors come to endanger the ship, the crew has to cut the nets. There's nothing humane in that.
I suppose the progressives simply want to take everyone in who wants to come. Biden seems to essentially redoing the Obama strategy. Camps are set up in America. Adults are held till they can be given a court hearing. Children cannot be legally held, so they are transferred as quickly as possible to foster placements. And they will likely be here for life.

The immigration system cannot be fixed in its current form. It needs to be rebuilt if we want a real immigrations system.

They do not even show the facility this time - just the outer fence. The flip in terminology is stark after the election.
On what do you base your "super maj" statement. I believe a super majority wants anyone who has broken the US law to enter the country to be immediately rounded up and deported. They broke the law to enter the country. What makes you think they will respect any other US law. We WERE a nation of laws. That was in the past.
