A word about Nexstar and Sinclair.

I must say that's a curious defense of keeping the misinformed, misinformed. Kinda puts a different spin on the "liberal controlled media" does it not?
LOL, after Kimmel said that Tyler was MAGA you talk about spreading misinformation.
How's life in that urban bubble?

Do you think Kimmel's incorrect comment, that anyone paying attention now knows to be false, equates to the daily misinformation being spread on local TV outlets and on Faux regarding its impact on people's political beliefs?

See post #22.

We aren't talking about the false accusations of censorship. But please do start a thread on it if you so desire.
"False accusations of censorship?"

Isn't that what this thread is about?

Come now. The folks on Faux lie multiple times each and every day. And they are supposed to be presenting the news, not a comedy show.

Kimmel is the king of "clown nose on, clown nose off"

Hiding behind "comedy" when being called out for being a left wing political hack

I disagree with your assertion that "daily misinformation" is being spread by local outlets or FNC.
The MSM's 93% anti-Trump bias was well documented.
The fact that you admit Kimmels MAGA lie requires foreknowledge, and you don't condemn it, says it all.

Their financial motivation for pulling Kimmel's show are well understood. Especially for Nexstar cuz they need a FCC waiver to break the rules about the % of local TV markets one company can control.

Nexstar's deal with Tegna isn't straightforward. By buying Tegna, it would likely increase its local TV ownership to more than 39% of US households, which is prohibited by law.

Sinclair also has business before the FCC so cozying up to chairman Carr by appeasing his authoritarian impulses was viewed by Sinclair exec's as the wise thing to do.

But I'd rather talk about something else. Like the influence two companies run by conservatives can have on their viewer's politics.

AI Overview

As of 2024 and 2025, people continue to get their news from local news stations, especially local TV, but reliance on digital platforms is rapidly increasing, particularly among younger audiences.

AI Overview

Nexstar Media Group is generally described as having a conservative political orientation, although its programming is seen as less overtly conservative than competitors like Sinclair Broadcast Group. While the company maintains that its news is unbiased, its actions and history of political donations have drawn scrutiny.

AI Overview

Sinclair Broadcast Group operates or owns a large portion of local television, including 193 stations across the U.S. as of late September 2025, which allows them to reach over 40% of American households.

I don't know how many of you have seen the video linked to below, but it's a doozy.

So, we have two companies run by conservatives controlling a large portion of local TV markets with.......

Who is getting news from local stations
  • Persistent trust and reach: Local television continues to be a major source of news, with more than half of American adults watching local newscasts somewhat regularly, according to a 2025 report from Harvard's Shorenstein Center.
  • Highest trust rating: A 2025 Nieman Lab report notes that Americans place more trust in local news than national news, and a University of Delaware study found local TV to be the most trusted news source overall.
  • Older audience: A May 2024 Pew Research Center study showed that 35% of adults 65 and older follow local news very closely, a stark contrast to the 9% of adults ages 18 to 29 who do so.

Add local news broadcasts to the list of insidious ways conservatives misinform their audience leading to things like belief in the Big Lie.
Remarkable how quickly you moved into conspiracy theory drivel.

Jimmy Kimmel crying, "I have sinned" and invoking Jesus is something I never thought I would see.

Honestly, I think that hurt him more than being fired. :)

Your proof, sir. Why would a conservative company like Sinclair allow local news broadcasts under its control to display anti-trump bias?

Perhaps you are conflating reporting the truth with being anti-trump since he is so often at odds with it.

I want Kimmel off the air because he is a Marxist and his ideology is lethal to civilization.

However, for those on the right who demanded that he apologize for his comments.

Why do you make such a demand when you have zero intention of accepting one, no matter how flippant (which this was not) or heartfelt (which may or may not be factual)?

That was my thought.

I'm not going to watch the show, because I never watch it. But, what I saw there was pretty good...which makes me relatively positive the leftist will hate it.

I can't speak for other Republicans... but that was good enough for me. I expect it will be good enough for the affiliates as well.

Does it disturb you when the influence of companies run by leftists have an effect on the viewers' politics?
Judging from his OP, it would seem not.
In fact would appear he wants nothing but left-wing propaganda (lies, disinformation) only on the nation's airwaves.
