Nexstar joins Sinclair, says it will continue not to air Jimmy Kimmel tonight

Hard to get a bump when the show is still being preempted by many stations.
Never put anything past the lib media

They will tout biased opinion polls rather than actual viewership to make Kimmel look good

The die-hard leftists showed up for his return and lost their shit over him, but that doesn't mean the country at large is wasting any time watching that crap.

And the fascist station owners are losing Millions of Dollars. LOVE IT! :auiqs.jpg:

Free speech is not and never has been the issue. it is an attempt by liberals to support Kimmel's right to publicly act like a moron!

like those flaming leftists, raphael cruz? or rand paul, or turtleboy mitch?

like them?

Sinclare is attempting an acquisition, that would put it above FCC regulator limits and require a Major FCC rule change, that has been in effect for decades, preventing one company from controlling too large a market share, across the country. Do you blame them for keeping Kimmel off the air to please the FCC chairman, that has veto power over their acquisition and the requied regulation change? Dream on.
Nextstar's attempt at Tegna puts them in the same boat.

To big corporations, free speech is free speech, but business and profits, outweigh free speech.
Nothing done by Sinclair or Nexstar has anything to do with Jimmy Kimmel's free speech. No one even told him to shut up. He can say anything he wants.

They willingly complied with FCC Chairman Carr's threats, knowing he holds the power over their mergers, as well as license renewals of the individual station. That kind of power, lets the administration pick winners and losers. They chose under pressure, not to risk their business and the money of their stockholders, standing up to the power of an administration, bent on controlling speech, so they would not become losers.

It still does not interfere with Kimmel's free speech rights. Jimmy Kimmel, st all times, is free to say whatever he likes. He is guaranteed the right to speak. He is not guaranteed an audience.

I see, you don't get it or willfully ignore it. Fine. have a nice day.

I get it. It's garbage. There is no right to be heard.
Not if the government can force you out of business for allowing, though it is popular and advertisers are willing to sponsor it.
This will not turn out well for Sinclair and Nexstar growth. Who would willingly continue to use their services, if they censor at government demand. They are making themselves ripe for competition, in markets, they had locked down.

Your opinion of Jimmy Kimmel is too high. His ratings were taking a dive before this
You have no actual proof that the government made any demands. It could be that Kimmel's lie waa more than Sinclair and Nexstar would tolerate. There is no way this show, struggling at best, will survive the loss of 70 markets. Disney can give him a show on Hulu.

Number 2 even 3 in a 3 way nation market time slot, makes a lot of money. It is unlikely they are losing money, except on paper, as a tax dodge, as the advertisers keep coming. TV shows are about advertising dollars, and the ability to generate them.

The loss of 71 affiliates and those advertising dollars is not survivable

There is always a chance that Kimmel will be offered a greatly reduced salary to reflect the new reality.
That is between Kimmel and ABC/Disney, what is offered and what is accepted at contract time. I could care less, but don't. With a net worth of $50 million, it is unlikely Jimmy will have trouble buying a sack of flower, or even supporting his lifestyle and that of his family for beyond his expected lifetime.

Quite so. Therefore he should not cry.
