In a Republic, actually
‘A 26-year-old woman has been charged with murder in Texas after authorities said she caused "the death of an individual by self-induced abortion," in a state that has the most restrictive abortion laws in the U.S.
[…]
In Rio Grande City on Saturday the abortion rights group Frontera Fund called for Herrera's release.

"We don't yet know all the details surrounding this tragic event," said Rockie Gonzales, founder and board chair of of the organization.

"What we do know is that criminalizing pregnant people's choices or pregnancy outcomes, which the state of Texas has done, takes away people's autonomy over their own bodies, and leaves them with no safe options when they choose not to become a parent," Gonzalez said.

Nancy Cárdenas Peña, Texas State Director for Policy and Advocacy for the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice, said in a statement that abortion should be available on the woman's own terms where she feels most comfortable.

"Allowing criminal law to be used against people who have ended their own pregnancies serves no reasonable state purpose, but may cause great harm to young people, people with lower incomes, and communities of color, who are most likely to encounter or be reported to law enforcement," Peña said.’

Exactly.

It is neither the role nor responsibility of the state to interfere with citizens’ decisions concerning their private lives.

Scott Peterson was charged with a double homicide for killing his wife and unborn child.

A person can be taken into custody for attempting to take his or her own life. How is it different for a woman who attempts to kill the life inside her? The dirty little secret about abortion is that the person who benefits most from the procedure isn't the woman but the man who sees his future obligations disappear at the stroke of a scalpel.

In Texas, preborn Texans are human beings. The woman killed a human being. We're sorry for her failure to seek counselling and considering putting up the infant for adoption. A lot of people want a baby but cannot have one since nature does not bless every couple with a greatly wanted baby to raise together.

Amen to this, only them future obligations disappear for both of the parents and not just one.

God bless you always!!!

They don't use a scalpel.

The man will no longer benefit from aborting his child. He gets 18 years one way or the other. <giggle>
Have any of you considered that the ways of the Bible are a lot better than murdering one's own child and chalks it off as "everybody does it." That will change in states that wake up and smell the coffee. Abortion is a disservice to those who came before us, it is a disservice to the part of the Constitution that says human beings have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. No more will we deprive our future Texans of the right to life. It's against the Constitution of the United States of America and you know that very well if you are a lawyer who passed the part of the Bar that says you will know what the Constitution says. It is not the State of Texas' fault that we keep the spirit of the law, which is the Constitution of the United States of America. The real issue is science. Science shows that from its conception, the baby is unlike any other person on the planet on account of his or her unique DNA. In other words, he or she is a human being unlike any other including one or both parents.

Citizenship has certain requirements, and truth is the first one, which we will define as the swing. And if you ain't got that swing, you ain't got a thing! Simple.

I don't care what a woman does with "her body". She can tattoo it, take every form of birth control all at once, pierce every surface of her skin, sleep with no men or 10,000. I don't care.

But if you create a baby, that's a SEPARATE body. Don't you all "follow the science"? So, follow the science.

Some Republican men really wish their women mistresses to get an abortion. You'd be surprised.

Nice try, Killer.

We're not laughing with you.

its freedom, your decision of what to do, if you have an abortion or not its really up to the DR. and Patient's. Its ok for you republicans to have freedoms but it not ok to have democrats to have freedoms. I'll never vote republicans again, they are full of hypocrisy.
