Corruption, media bias, human rights, civil rights, the fabric of our country is coming apart.
Of course minorities and those of us in the hinterlands have been aware of it for a really long time. Indians and blacks share the same common oppressor as ranchers and those in the timber industry...the oppressive boot of big government, fed by elitists who are absolutely convinced they have the right and the authority to use the feds to force their land use restrictions upon others. Regardless of the treaties, contracts and agreements that have gone before.
But really, at the root of it all...is our press. When your free press ceases to be free and simply becomes the propaganda arm of an out of control government, you have a problem. And we do.
The author has it wrong though. The pioneers did not invite state support until the state began to lay pressure to bear against them, and the only way to survive was to accept it.
