A simple economic lesson... raise capital gains to 43% will do what?

That's Dan Price's choice and good for him. How much does he take in stock options?

Everyone does enjoy the fruits of their labor. If you did not, whose fault is it?

As you know too, President Trump's policies increased the wages of low and middle-income workers much more than that of higher-income folks. That isn't happening with President Biden.

You want to keep the status quo, I'm guessing because you are a high level exec that makes millions a year. So I understand why you dont want to improve things for the rest of the 98% of us.

mkay. What's that mean?
Wow. Really? It means every other industrialized nation has more equitable pay. Now of course I'm guessing you are the type that will reply "dont let the door hit you on the way out" instead of actually wanting to improve America. So this is probably where our conversation ends.

It is also what has made us the greatest nation the world has ever seen.
By many measurements, America is not the greatest nation. But you are entitled to your opinion.

CEO pay disparity made us the greatest country in the world even though it is a fairly relatively recent phenomena? Ok, if you say so.

Wow. Really? It means every other industrialized nation has more equitable pay.

And what does that mean? Yes really. How much is a CEO's work worth to society? If someone like Elon Musk can move the entire nation toward electric vehicle usage (assuming you think that's a good thing), how much is that worth? How much would it cost to fund a government initiative achieving similar results?

Now of course I'm guessing you are the type that will reply "dont let the door hit you on the way out" instead of actually wanting to improve America. So this is probably where our conversation ends.

Nope - I despise the "love it or leave it" retort. Complete copout.

You obviously think it is worth more than I do. This isnt just a choice of either paying CEO's an exorbitant amount of money or having to fund a government initiative. And you know that.

As an aside, I fully expect Tesla to be out of the car business within 10 years. They are going to get crushed by the competition.

As you know the deficit started the explosion under Reagan. We can never claim that tax cuts are the reasons for increased revenue when we are running huge deficits.
Hahaha haha hahaha hahaha, spending causes deficits! It’s really hilarious to watch you fkers, blaming citizens for politicians greed

Maybe. Maybe not. But it's not my call. Nor yours. It's up to the people who are giving them that money. No one else.

You seem to have missed the point. The value of what a CEO, or entrepreneur, does has nothing to do with what they personally "deserve". It has to do with how much their accomplishments are worth to society. If it would cost the US government 10 billion dollars to achieve widespread adoption of electric vehicles in the US, and we think that's a worth goal, why is it wrong for Tesla (Musk) to make 5 billion for achieving the same goal?

OK if that is who is to blame, I'll blame him. Ok so now what are we going to do about it?
stop spending what we don't bring in in revenue. Why is that so difficult for you to comprehend? Your personal finances must be a mess. you don't know not to spend what you don't have.

It is also what has made us the greatest nation the world has ever seen.
demofks still don't say shit about a baseball player making 100 million a year, ever notice? Always the corporation CEOs. They must yank their meat when they discuss CEOs. I laugh.

No, I didnt. I fully understand what you said.

So because Musk is a public figure, he is solely responsible for the surge in electric vehicles? He is solely responsible for every other auto manufacturer moving towards EV?

Like I said, you think his pay warrants that. But since when did societal benefit (and in turn benefits to other competitors) become a basis for CEO pay? I thought a CEO's responsibility was to make corporate decisions and control resources in order to create the most profitable company that is possible?

Are you saying CEO's in other countries that do the same thing are just stupid because they arent as greedy?

Whether I can do a ceo job or not doesnt prove your assertion. Besides, even if "most of us" cant do a ceo's job, that does not in and of itself justify the outlandish pay ceo's in America (notice this is an AMERICAN phenomena).
Mr. 101... Where is your proof of "outlandish Pay"??? Here is my proof...
Now the AVERAGE pay for ALL CEOs see below...
Question.. $74,000 to $310,000 per year OUTLANDISH?
Question: Why aren't you upset with this $8.32 million AVERAGE just for dribbling a ball? "Outlandish pay"?

Cute try.

I am happy to help folks with learning disabilities, handicaps that prevent them from full-time employment.

No, I'm not willing to help people who made their own bed. Did not finish high school, has drug and alcohol addictions, having kids at a young age with no marriage.

As I thought. You completely ignore all the benefits and protections granted the ultra wealthy and big corporations by our corrupt system, but demand the poor accept cold hard capitalism. Socialism for the rich and capitalism for poor…right?

Typical.

i have been in investing in stocks since 1970 and I have seen a number of changes in the capital gains tax rates. I have not seen any effect on the market. 40% of major corporations are owned abroad. US capital gains taxes are not paid by foreign investors from abroad. They are tax access by their own country. Also you can avoid capital by 1031 exchanges, tax shelters such as 401ks, IRAs, etc.

Yes, I have done 1031 exchanges, and have a self directed 401k LLC, so keep taxes to a minimum.
Which is my point about how people less well off than I, can't afford to reduce their taxes like I can.

Not familiar with an ETN

{...

Exchange-traded fund

An exchange-traded fund is a type of investment fund and exchange-traded product, i.e. they are traded on stock exchanges. ETFs are similar in many ways to mutual funds, except that ETFs are bought and sold from other owners throughout the day on stock exchanges while mutual funds are bought and sold from the issuer based on their price at day's end. An ETF holds assets such as stocks, bonds, currencies, and/or commodities such as gold bars, and generally operates with an arbitrage mechanism designed to keep it trading close to its net asset value, although deviations can occasionally occur. Most ETFs are index funds: that is, they hold the same securities in the same proportions as a certain stock market index or bond market index. The most popular ETFs in the U.S. replicate the S&P 500 Index, the total market index, the NASDAQ-100 index, the price of gold, the "growth" stocks in the Russell 1000 Index, or the index of the largest technology companies. With the exception of non-transparent actively managed ETFs, in most cases, the list of stocks that each ETF owns, as well as their weightings, is posted daily on the website of the issuer. The largest ETFs have annual fees of 0.03% of the amount invested, or even lower, although specialty ETFs can have annual fees well in excess of 1% of the amount invested. These fees are paid to the ETF issuer out of dividends received from the underlying holdings or from selling assets.

pknopp what causes deficits if it isn't out of control spending? one doesn't get into debt until one purchases something.
