In short, in the book DeSantis has to create a Constitution that is not so much aspirational as imaginary in order to align himself with the tradition of Martin Luther King Jr. and others who used the notion of the Founders’ benign original intentions to actually liberate Black people and increase equality. But whereas these figures wanted to talk about the Black past and present, and the impact of racial domination on everyone Black or white, DeSantis insists that a return to first principles means never bringing up slavery except to praise those who ended it.

The question of whether or how the American Founders were complicit with slavery might seem to be a seemingly minor, even technical, matter compared with other legislative maneuverings in Florida. But for DeSantis, it’s the beginning and the essence of what he opposes. The Florida Commission of Education said that the recently passed Stop WOKE Act targeted “revisionist history” while the Florida House speaker said, “The bill provides assurance for parents that some of the most difficult lessons about our nation’s history and current events are taught accurately while treating everyone as individuals.” A state senator cited it as a move back to “historical facts” instead of “indoctrination.” There’s room for disagreement about how to view and teach the intertwined legacies of the American Revolution, slavery, and the Constitution. But as his own book suggests, it is DeSantis himself who ignores certain facts, is prone to identity-driven circular logic, and dismisses what Black voices, past and present, have to teach.

There is no doubt that desantis is a very intelligent and calculating man. But that "virtue" makes him that much more dangerous than his equally as ignorant detractor and possible competitor, trump. Where trump's ignorance led us down a road of debauchery and chaos; desantis, if elected, could lead us down a road of organized and well constructed fascism. Such a controlled governance could set back freedom and democracy in this country for decades.

My god you make Alex Jones look normal. You are a lunatic

Look around lefties. Black people are liberated. Who the hell is David Waldstreicher?
The worst aspect of the race-based propaganda of the Left is that they are building a significant following of blacks as victims. That will eventually boomerang on them and the real progress made since the 60s will be degraded and possibly, lost.
I grew up in the south in the 60s and 70s and remember well the strife our state went through with compulsory desegregation, primarily through "bussing" black kids into white neighborhoods and vice versa.

The net effect after about a decade was that both races had a chance to share space and school challenges and sports, and we all realized the "others" weren't so bad, after all. If someone had told us in '72, that 50 years into the future, it would be black Americans demanding re-segregation, no one would have believed it. Everything about the "Progressive" movement, "progresses" in a retrograde manner.

You, a fascist democrat, are a slaver, and just as with yourself, all fascist democrats ever, have all been racists and slavers, you are as a collective, right there with the Nazi party of Germany, indeed Hitler and Rohm were greatly inspired via the fascist democrat viewpoint, and social programs predicated upon eugenics, its where he got the idea for Jewish ghettos(reservation system)and the idea to exterminate or fix all human beings they decided were undesirable!

What were you trying to say again, about Ron DeSantis??? :fu:

This jerk using our state government to audition for president and fight personal grudges ought to piss off at least a few republicans but apparently they like his style of self-centered fascism.

~~~~~~
Really? Are you aware of the former governor from Arkansas that was our 42nd president? Then there's a governor from Kalifornia that was recently measuring the drapes at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave while Joey Xi was out of town.
It appears that a good number of former governors ran for and became presidents in the past.
Either you don't know your history or you're a nincompoop and racist.
Every time a Marxists on this board starts harping on slavery, when it was the Democrats, white and black, that kept them as slaves, i wish Abraham Lincoln would of rounded up all the freed black slaves and their kids, and shipped them all to Liberia and not offer them 20 acres and a mule for reparations. Then like the Africans that come here to work as upstanding citizens, are welcome and respected for their American dream that they so desire.
Deflect? You just claimed the Governor of Florida was auditioning for the presidency and I called you out by showing a normal progression that Governors normally follow if successful at their job.
For your information FDR., Teddy Roosevelt, Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan were Governors before they were elected to the presidency.
It's not deflection, its all about exposing you and your idiotic trolling.
He's trying to out-Trump Trump at our expense. Using our state as a stepping stone to higher office is hardly unprecedented. We have Rick Scott as a ready example. Didn't have a problem with me correctly labeling him a self-centered fascist?
Unless trump trashes him until his reputation is no better than Jeffrey Dahmer, little Ron will be the repub nominee, ready with book banning, revised history, and fascist policies.
trump is as dumb as a rock, bit he has no bottom to his morals. He will smear little Ron so badly, that his wife will quit sleeping with him.
