For example, even Italians get some discrimination in the US and UK over being more "Mediterranean", meaning slightly darker. More so with Sicilians, Arabs, Turks, Persians.

Arabs are not a race.. They are white with dark hair unless they married women from East Africa. You see more of that on each coast.
But getting back to images of Mohammad, there is no reason for anyone to deliberately insult Muslims by violating the Quran and creating false images of any prophet.
The point in the Quran is to not do images so that one does not get into worshipping idolotry.

So then people who deliberately produce images of Mohammad really are trying to create excuses for murdering Muslims, and then do deserve retribution.
