If one is objective, the outrage seems misplaced. In 1990 NY had over 2000 murders, in 2019 there was 311. In your opinion, you believe it is cuts to the police budget that are responsible for this increase?

Right now there is a pandemic, summer, anxiety and worry. I'd expect crime to go up, not that anyone wants it too obviously (though some leaders in Canada seem to avoid the correlations and causation) it certainly has in Canada

Society has changed. People and youth have things to do. They play games online or social media, they don't have to go outside due to boredom, get into trouble, become manipulated by bad apples.

In Toronto we had record police budget, we also had record gun crimes. So, when times are bad, police say "look, we need more money (they love massive police budgets in Canada) and officers, there is high crime!" Then if crime goes down, "look, our efforts have worked. Give us more money and we can get it down even lower!".

What do you believe would be the solution, to this uptick in crime? Also, is it fully unexpected considering what we are living through? The Wuhan Virus has ruined a great deal of sanity and impacted the world negatively in so many ways.

Did you read the link I posted thats actual NYPD reported crime and City Govt listing the actual numbers
Your list says the same thing as mine in 2000 there were 673 murders not 2000 and 311 in 2019.
That murder rate is soaring in 2020 and the year has 5 months left.

Now lets critique...since 1969 when the murder rate started to soar until 1994 the city of New York was run by democrats, the murder rate soared until Rudi Guiliani became mayor and directed NYPD to clean up his city...look at the subsequent crime rates they dropped each year he was Mayor...you can contribute the low crime rates to Guiliani and his policies...

The crime rate soaring this year is from Policies by DiBlasio and Cuomo and its not going to change anytime soon.
