How are Americans feeling about former President Donald Trump’s indictment?

Well, now that it has actually happened, we have yet to see new data answering that question. However, a Quinnipiac University poll that was released Wednesday showed that the vast majority of both Republicans and independents believed that a potential indictment from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is “politically motivated.”

It appears most think this is what it probably is.

70% of one thousand people ask in the poll.

Americans 57 - 38 percent think criminal charges should disqualify former President Donald Trump from running for president again, if charges are filed against him as a result of multiple state and federal criminal investigations, according to a Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pea-ack) University national poll released today.

Democrats (88 - 9 percent) and independents (55 - 36 percent) think criminal charges should disqualify Trump from running for president again, while Republicans (75 - 23 percent) think criminal charges should not disqualify him from running again.

Americans were asked about the Manhattan District Attorney's investigation of Trump. That investigation involves hush money allegedly paid by Trump to keep quiet an alleged affair with an adult film actress. Among the accusations reportedly being investigated is whether Trump falsified business records to keep the payment concealed, something his lawyers deny. Fifty-five percent think the accusations are either very serious (32 percent) or somewhat serious (23 percent), while 42 percent think the accusations are either not too serious (16 percent) or not serious at all (26 percent).

More than 6 in 10 Americans (62 percent) think the Manhattan District Attorney's case involving former President Donald Trump is mainly motivated by politics, while 32 percent think the case is mainly motivated by the law.

Republicans (93 - 5 percent) and independents (70 - 26 percent) think the Manhattan District Attorney's case is mainly motivated by politics, while Democrats (66 - 29 percent) think the case is mainly motivated by the law.

Nearly 7 in 10 Americans (69 percent) think Trump was mainly acting out of concerns for himself when he announced on social media that he was going to be arrested in New York and urged people to protest and "take our nation back," while nearly one-quarter (24 percent) think he was mainly acting out of concerns about democracy.

The number of voters saying Trump is honest is a low since Quinnipiac University first asked this question of registered voters in November 2016.

FAVORABILITY RATINGS

Registered voters were asked whether they had a favorable or unfavorable opinion of:

No democrat forced him to be corrupt and to be a scum bag to his wife. Maybe you should reconsider your support of such a disgusting man such as Trump. How can you be moral and vote for this?

I think it is too, but that doesn't mean the charges are false.
Doesn't mean they're true, either. The reality is that we've reached a point in our political discourse where truth doesn't matter as much as beliefs. 87% of residents of NYC voted for Biden in 2020. For Trump to have ANY chance at fairness, a change of venue should be allowed. Somehow, I just don't see that happening.
Fortunately, while the facts in evidence won't matter to the jury, they WILL matter to an appellate court. If not at the first level, then in SCOTUS.

"...while 32 percent think the case is mainly motivated by the law."

So 32% are lying; sounds about right.

This^ is why our Founders chose a Republic rather than rule by the mob. Unless SCOTUS were to refuse to take this case up after he is convicted and the media and the Left go into full campaign mode to convince those on the Left that even if he won, they wouldn't have to respect that outcome.
It gets frustrating for you guys to keep seeing but it's true.

The ONLY criminal conviction that would legally disqualify him is for Treason. In the 24 hour period immediately after the indictment was announced, he raised 4 million dollars.

The other 30% of "Independents" in that poll are Trump haters, guaranteed.

I am sorry that you emotionally invest yourself too much in politicians or a political party, I hold no endearment for any.

I think it is too, but that doesn't mean the charges are false.

They don't have to be false. Being ridiculous is heinous enough.

As I stated in a previous thread: a man stepping into the road to save a dog from an oncoming car is technically jaywalking. What cop is gonna write him up for it, which court will prosecute? That's living by the "rule of law" that the popcorn crunchers here parrot, but it's not justice.

(And no, I'm not saying what Trump did was akin to saving a dog. Just making a point that we do not, in fact, operate on the "rule of law". Rather we have a JUSTICE system.)

A lot of daggers, switchblades, machetes, butcher knifes, stilettos, bayonets, spears & even arrows flying around the capital building looking for a back to land into!
