When my grandparents immigrated here, legally through Ellis Island, there was no subsidized housing, food stamps, Medicaid, free cell phones, etc., etc.

One grandparent came here at age 16 with his 14-year-old brother - ALONE. They got factory jobs, rented a room where they shared a bed, and worked 12 hours a day. They saved what little money they had to eventually send steerage money for their mother and three remaining younger children. It took about five years.

A great-grandparent came here at age 30, alone, leaving his wife and five children under age 10. (One was my grandmother.) He too had to scrimp and save after working in the factory all day to come up with steerage money. It took years, and then it took the remaining family two more years to make it to the European coast.

And he’s also skipping over that these illegals come here and immediately have anchor babies. Many are pregnant when they come in. As soon as they have their baby - at a hospital that Americans have to pay for - they can get on a waiting list for subsidized housing, and they end up tsking spots from honest Americans.

I used to teach financial literacy to the low-income (pre-COVID), and many were on years-long waits for subsidized housing. Why? Because we have a lot of illegals here, and they take up the space.

The study you provided has to cherry pick a tiny portion of immigrant households and then assigns everyone in the household as a welfare recipient even if 1 out of 8 people there get a welfare benefit.

This makes the "household" use of welfare statistic 50% higher in immigrant family households RIGH OFF THE BAT because there are less households to spread the same percent of welfare recipients to.
