I've been pretty involved in my kids' public schools for 15 years, now. Used to sub, even, before I sold the business and went to work for the man 9-5.

Needless to say, both of my kids graduated (or are graduating) near the tops of their classes and are set for college.

The MAGA babies from the trailer park and poorer areas of the district are/were easy to spot. Not just by their appearance and behavior, but by their poor grades and poor class involvement. They get shittier grades and often can't read worth a shit. Yet there they are, often in the same classes as kids performing above average.

This would seem to indicate that background and parenting are the first things to look at.

Yes parenting is key to childhood development of course but Pahleese DO NOT EVEN ATTEMPT to categorize households by political adherence.

If you have ever had anything at all to do with education ( I have no reason to doubt you) you should know better.

Additionally I have seen children come from really crappy drug-infested households and do spectacularly well in school and children come from extremely nurturing households and do lousy in school.

This report is from two years ago, but it accentuates the reason why Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy are pushing for the continued use of H1-B visas. Chicago public schools received $11.2 billion from local and federal funding and with a little over 325,000 students, this funding breaks out to be over $34,000 per student. Despite this, it's one of the worst performing school districts in the country. I'd say the residents keep voting for the mediocrity Vivek criticized, but this is flat out failure.

This is a scenario we continue to see in school districts all around the country.

The teachers my wife knows in public schools are tearing their hair out having to slow down the curriculum for two or three immigrant kids who have limited English. Some have none and force the schools to hire language tutors. Hey it's a good thing public schools have unlimited budgets and plenty of extra teachers to handle the burden!!
