She (and I) were talking about humans making mistakes when young that causes them to lose jobs and that affects their future. No one is perfect and making mistakes that changes our future is common and normal. If we punish those that make mistakes, we would likely need to punish 80% of all Americans.Damn straight. Get your lazy ass to work and support yourself. Too many abuse Free Stuff. They are the first to cry when it goes away.
I dont owe them my taxes because they dont work.
In addition, things happen by chance that affect our future that we have no control over.
When I was 32 years old, I was working in a coffee delivery company where I was making about $20k per year. One day in December, while I was working, I read a notice in the newspaper that said "you want to make $100k next year? Come to this meeting and we will show you how you can do it!", It was 10:00am when I read it and where the meeting for that job was only 15 minutes away from where I was working that day. I decided to go to that meeting, and it changed my life. I joined the job and that year, I ended making $125k
This was pure LUCK that all of this happened and it was a life-changing thing that happened. If I had not gone to that meeting, I might be needing SNAP benefits now at age 80. Who knows?
Like that, many things in life have nothing to do with effort but withe pure luck and/or decisions made.
You cannot punish people for decisions made as none of us know what consequences or benefits our decisions will bring to our future.
