42 million Americans will be starving starting November.

Damn straight. Get your lazy ass to work and support yourself. Too many abuse Free Stuff. They are the first to cry when it goes away.

I dont owe them my taxes because they dont work.
She (and I) were talking about humans making mistakes when young that causes them to lose jobs and that affects their future. No one is perfect and making mistakes that changes our future is common and normal. If we punish those that make mistakes, we would likely need to punish 80% of all Americans.

In addition, things happen by chance that affect our future that we have no control over.

When I was 32 years old, I was working in a coffee delivery company where I was making about $20k per year. One day in December, while I was working, I read a notice in the newspaper that said "you want to make $100k next year? Come to this meeting and we will show you how you can do it!", It was 10:00am when I read it and where the meeting for that job was only 15 minutes away from where I was working that day. I decided to go to that meeting, and it changed my life. I joined the job and that year, I ended making $125k

This was pure LUCK that all of this happened and it was a life-changing thing that happened. If I had not gone to that meeting, I might be needing SNAP benefits now at age 80. Who knows?

Like that, many things in life have nothing to do with effort but withe pure luck and/or decisions made.

You cannot punish people for decisions made as none of us know what consequences or benefits our decisions will bring to our future.

I’m not punishing anyone, but enabling their bad and irresponsible decisions just robs them of any motivation to do better. We have generations of families on welfare for that very reason: they know that if they don’t take action to be self-supporting, other people will just pay their way.

P.S. Reducing food stamp allotments so they can’t afford expensive steaks or shopping at Whole Foods is not punishing them.

So failing to take any action to get job training after high school, and just figuring you’ll “do whatever and other people can support me” is merely a “mistake”? No, it’s irresponsible, and liberals enable it but saying, essentially, “don’t worry….if you can’t take care of yourself when you’re an adult, we’ll force responsible self-supportimg adults to spend their own money to feed you, provide medical care, and subsidize your housing.”

No WONDER they aren’t motivated to be responsible. You’re making all sorts of excuses.

I believe in a hand up and not a hand out.

And what is stopping you from donating to help these people now?

I saw it. Nobody is saying that if you lose your job through no fault of your own, we are cutting off unemployment insurance. And, if that happens, I’m all for 3 months of food stamps until you get a new job.

But we have 42 million people on food stamps, and many are part of multi-generational families where nobody got job training, and grandma went on welfare to raise her six kids, and HER six kids (except the responsible one who enrolled in a vocational program paid for by Pell Grants) are now raising all their kids on food stamps, and the two teens in that last generation are pregnant now, and about to give birth to a 4th generation of welfare leeches.

I know what you are saying but you are cherry-picking the examples that support your point and that is not how LIFE works.

Let me give you an example of how life works. I am happily married to what I consider to be the "love of my life". My wife fulfills many of the things that I searched for all my life. Nonetheless, there are things about her that I dislike intensely. If I KEY on those, I would not be married!!!

Because the good things about her are so much more important and better than the things I dislike, I IGNORE the bad and key on the good!

That is life. You will always find things that are bad and that can be criticized "correctly" in everyone. If you key on those (such as my first wife did), you will not be better off than if you had simply accepted that life has both good and bad and learned to live with it.

By the way, my first wife got married again and to a good man with many pluses, but she also keyed on the bad things with him and both him and her are miserable and have been living unhappily for many years. My present wife and I both keyed on the good things and we are happy and have been happy since we got married! By the way, there are also things about me that she dislikes intensely but she too ignores them.

There are always going to be people that take advantage of the system (Trump takes big advantage of the system and has even said it clearly). Nonetheless, you can't get rid of the system and expect that things will get better. What needs to be done is to make sure that the system has more good than bad and then key on the good and ignore the bad! This does not mean that you don't TRY to make it better but not to the point that you break the system and affect everyone negatively.

Does that make sense to you?

Wait. Are you the one from yesterday who said I had no soul?

What sort of change do you envision?
How much would it cost?
Who would pay?

"Wealth inequality is higher in the United States than in almost any other developed country and has risen for much of the past 60 years.

"Racial wealth inequities have persisted for generations, reflecting the long-standing effects of racist policies, not individual intentions or deficits.

https://apps.urban.org/features/wealth-inequality-charts/

"In a nation that professes that those who work hard and play by the rules should be rewarded with social and economic upward mobility, these persistent disparities are a stark reminder that, as a society, we have not achieved this goal.

"These charts tell the story of wealth inequality in the United State..."
repeat
Excuses instead of changes

It is unequal but it’s not inequality which presumes deliberate

Wasn't it cool the way they held trump down until the flag and the photographers were in the correctly preassigned positions.

SNAP and food stamps and welfare are not always the same. States like California have its own food stamp program and they allow illegals (even if they claim they don’t).

I meant to say the majority of illegals are on these welfare programs.

SNAP is fine for honest Americans, and no one is demanding it be defunded for them. (Well, Democrats are defunding it for their absurd ACA subsidy demands). Though I do believe more requirements are needed, like drug testing and if the person is a convicted drug dealer then it should disqualify them. Drug dealers don’t report their income so they are able to receive welfare like SNAP even though they have lots of money.
I had a friend who worked for a Social Services program in CA. She told me that they weren't even allowed to ask if applicants were citizens or legal residents. So no matter what the rules said, illegals were getting services they were not allowed to get bacause no one was allowed to check.

It’s amazing to have the make pretend “new laws” that prohibit the discovery of violations of actual current laws.

First off, no one is going to starve, and the Democrats need to decide if they are going to vote for reopening the government or are Democrats going to vote to reopen the government.

The Republicans are voting like they have all along and it’s the Dems trying to blackmail the GOP with a healthcare issue that Democrats voted to end in 2025, it’s on the Democratic Party.
Also, the fact remains that the democrats have voted to stop funding the gov't using the idea that ACA subsidies ARE GOING TO END Nov. 21. Nothing ended during the month of Oct. when, any thinking person would know, negotiations could have been taking place. SCHUMER, JEFFERIES and the DEMOCRATS own this shutdown.

the DEMOCRATS own this shutdown.
WRONG.

BREAKING: Mike Johnson gives pathetic excuse for refusing to share the Republican healthcare plan after Marjorie Taylor-Greene publicly calls him out!
Speaking with a Fox News host, Johnson was asked about MTG’s recent complaints that the Johnson is refusing to share any details about the Republican plan to deal with the looming healthcare crisis that they themselves are engineering by refusing to extend the Obamacare subsidies at the heart of the government shutdown.
“Where is the Republican plan? She says, Johnson said he's got ideas and pages of policy ideas and committees of jurisdiction are working on it. But he refused to give one policy proposal to our GOP conference on our own conference call,” asked the Fox host.
Johnson tried to argue that they can’t share the super-secret Republican healthcare plan because…his own members will leak it to the media.
“Yeah, I don't know what to say about that. I mean, that's absurd. Obviously, we're not going to be on a conference call explaining all of our plans and strategies for health care reform because they're leaked in real time. Literally, when I have a conference call with all my members, it's tweeted out by journalists. They're supposed to be private, but they're not. And so Marjorie knows that,” whined Johnson.
"She knows she can come into my office any day at any hour and I'll lay out everything for her. The committees of jurisdiction, the people who specialize in all of this, have been working on this around the clock for a long time. In fact, we published 60 or 70 pages of health care reform ideas in 2019 when I was the chair of the Republican Study Committee, the largest caucus in Congress."
So...no progress made in SIX years, Mike? This is patently absurd. He’s not sharing the plan because he doesn’t have one!
The fact of the matter is that the Republican Party has had over a DECADE to come up with a plan to replace Obamacare and solve the healthcare crisis in America, and they haven’t, because they don’t care!
Instead of offering any real solutions, Mike Johnson and Republicans are going to let millions of Americans go hungry AND suffer thousands of dollars in skyrocketing healthcare premiums because all they care about is maintaining their grip on power and entertaining the petty whims of a would-be tyrant.

Your point is? A wall of text with no point beyond using MTG as a source of debate after disparaging her for the past five years. LOL. Schumer,Jefferies and the democrats shut down the government on Oct. 1. Negotiations and debate could have been ongoing for the past month had the gov't not been shut down. SCHUMER SHUTDOWN--OWN IT.
