Because these lands were once under Russian control even before the USSR even existed. Crimea for instance was historically part of the Russian empire, until the Turks with their western allies, took it and settled Tatars there. It then became part of Ukraine after the collapse of the Soviet union until Russia took it back. Of course the west and the Turks are mad because we finally took back what was ours.

As an American, you should be in no position to judge Russia when we take lands that were ours, after all, you were the ones who allowed your Turkish allies to resettle Greeks in Northern Cyprus and replace them with Turks after betraying Greece.

The US itself has stolen lands that never belonged to them.

Lets also not forget how you stole Kosovo from the Serbs.
