4 GOP candidates sign anti-same-sex marriage pledge

NEVER give CNN links a click of support folks. this is the dishonest garbage you get off them
I was reluctant to, they really do have a shitty website, apart from their agenda driven "news" but I wanted to see how honest they were. I searched and don't see the language of any pledge, lots of the same op-ed copied around. That's what the left does, sling shit and pass it around.

Kind of closing the barn door after the horses have left

The issue has been decided, stomping their feet and vowing revenge will not work

Cruz, Santorum, Jindal, Carson want a constitutional amendment which would ban gay marriages,
Wow, what a shitty editorial. But it's CNN. Obviously they were trying to bury something. My guess is what the Republicans really signed is a pledge to support states rights and let the states not honor homosexual marriages if they decide not to. If the law was added the supremes would have to honor it since the law wasn't there before. Kudos to those guys and all who still favor democracy.

Incorrect.

The pledge (in part) included a Federal Marriage Amendment that marriage is between a man and a woman. Invalidating Civil Marriage for same sex couples that were achieved at the State level through state courts, state legislatures, and at state ballots.

Different-sex civil marriage would be the only one in the United States with such an amendment.

No I'm glad you did or and found out it was just OP-ED pos of lie. I'm talking from now on. this is getting so ugly and UNFAIR. But no screaming about a Fairness doctrine now out of these left/dems. How so not shocking isn't it?

Cruz, Santorum, Jindal, Carson want a constitutional amendment which would ban gay marriages, I think they are a bit too late. No one will allow them to ban same sex marriages since there are too many progressives who will be fiercely defending their right to marry other men. It's strange they decided to make this statement now. They are all losers who have no chance to win the presidential race.
Nice to have it in writing for posterity.

the only opposition I've heard from any of them is they believed it should have been left UP TO THE STATES. not come out of a bunch robed justices making POLICY for us all

that title is a LIE. and there goes CNN that mouthpiece for the DNC

There is no freaking pledge of any sort and now it's ANTI-homosexuals AGAIN for crying out loud.

CNN has become a real pos for the crap they put out

There is no pledge uh?

Well actually there is...

NOM Marriage Pledge
NOMblog: NOM Identifies Marriage Champions Who Emerge From Republican Presidential Field

"NOM's presidential pledge that has been signed by candidates Cruz, Santorum, Jindal and Carson makes several specific commitments to preserve marriage and restore a thriving marriage culture, including:

  1. Support a federal constitutional amendment that protects marriage as the union of one man and one woman.
  2. Work to overturn the US Supreme Court's Obergefell decision that illegitimately imposed same-sex 'marriage' on every state in the nation, including nominating to the U.S. Supreme Court and federal bench judges who are committed to restraint and applying the original meaning of the Constitution, and appointing an attorney general similarly committed.
  3. Conduct a review of actions taken by the Obama Administration that have undermined marriage and work to restore our policies to be consistent with the proper understanding of marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Consistent with this, prevent the promotion of a redefined version of marriage in public schools and other government entities.
  4. Support the First Amendment Defense Act and other legislation that recognizes the right of organizations and individuals to act in the public square consistent with their belief that marriage is the union of one man and one woman without fear of retaliation from the government.
  5. Direct the Department of Justice to investigate, document and publicize cases of Americans who have been harassed or threatened for exercising key civil rights to organize, to speak, to donate or to vote for marriage and to propose new protections, if needed.

off some BLOG? really. and you just swallow that?

Do you deny that NOM (The National Organization for Marriage) is a non-profit organization with a goal of implementing a Federal Constitutional Amendment limiting Civil Marriage to one man and one woman?

Did you look at the second link showing the status of all candidates in relation to the pledge you said doesn't exist?

NOM Marriage Pledge

So CNN lied but yet the NOM website confirms that those candidate did sign such a pledge.

It isn't funny, the first few pages are the typical leftist hysteria. They are (if they really signed it) wanting to do thing in a legal democratic fashion. If that upsets you and you kind then good. Be upset! I like the part about investigating the assholes that rammed their homosexual agenda down business owners throats and got courts to rubber stamp it. They need to be thrown in jail.

Wow, what a shitty post. But it's Iceweasel so he's obviously trying to obfuscate. Your "guess" would be oh so wrong, Weasel.

Here is the exact pledge these four douche nozzles signed:

I, _____________ _____________, pledge to the American people that if elected President, I will:

One, support a federal constitutional amendment that protects marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

Two, oppose and work to overturn any Supreme Court decision that illegitimately finds a constitutional "right" to the redefinition of marriage. This includes nominating to the U.S. Supreme Court and federal bench judges who are committed to restraint and applying the original meaning of the Constitution, and appointing an attorney general similarly committed.

Three, conduct a review of regulatory, administrative and executive actions taken by the current Administration that have the effect of undermining marriage and work to restore our policies to be consistent with the proper understanding of marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Consistent with this, prevent the promotion of a redefined version of marriage in public schools and other government entities.

Four, support the First Amendment Defense Act and other legislation that recognizes the right of organizations and individuals to act in the public square consistent with their belief that marriage is the union of one man and one woman without fear of retaliation from the government.

Five, direct the Department of Justice to investigate, document and publicize cases of Americans who have been harassed or threatened for exercising key civil rights to organize, to speak, to donate or to vote for marriage and to propose new protections, if needed.

It's interesting to see that you are no longer supporting this, but denying it. Apparently you've "evolved" on the issue of gay marriage.

I was "slow" in pointing out how wrong you are? I'm sorry, I guess you're so used to being wrong you usually get a speedier response? Oops, my bad.

So, are you owning up to how wrong your "guess" was?

It IS interesting that certain posters have "evolved" to the point that they no longer support such an amendment but get angry at posters pointing out that GOP candidates have signed a pledge to support such an amendment. Interesting that supporting a man/woman only marriage amendment is now a negative to be denied.
