In the USA today, we have about 95 million Americans of working age NOT WORKING out of a total population of roughly 320 million. A fucking RECORD number. Are you aware of this stat??? Do you or the others in this thread dispute this number?????
You've disputed that number when you've said the government lies and that the government numbers are BS.
Of course, many are retired, disabled, in college, house wives/husbands, etc. However, millions of these NOT WORKING Americans do not fall into these categories. This proves that the government stat of 5% UE is completely bogus. It does not reflect reality.
There are 253,854,000 people in the U.S. age 16 and older who are not active duty military, or in prison, or in an institution.
Of those, 151,614,000 are employed (a record high).
7,849,000 are not working and looking for work (unemployed)
Employed plus unemployed are those people doing something about work: people who could/should be working if there were enough jobs for everyone. We call this the Labor Force and it's at
159,463,000. That's a record high.
Of that 159,463,000 people doing something about work, the 7,849,000 who are unsuccessful make up 4.9%.
The population of 253,854,000 minus the labor force of 159,463,000 gives 94,391,000 people not doing anything about work (not the record high). Of those, 5,833,000 say they want a job in theory, but are not able or willing to look for one right now.
So, you accept the 94 million not working or looking for work as valid, but reject the 159,463, working and looking for work as BS? How does that work?
