Trump's Border Wall Must Be Built, 380 Sheriffs Tell Congress

Hundreds of sheriffs from 40 states have called on Congress to fund President Donald Trump's initiative to build a border wall between the U.S. and Mexico.

“Without border security and immigration reform, more Americans will continue to be victims of crime. Now is the time to act,” a letter signed by 380 sheriffs said.

"Further delay and inaction on immigration reform will cost more innocent lives, more financial hardships, and an even greater decline in the public trust that is essential to the preservation of our Republic," the letter added...

..Sheriff Thomas M. Hodgson of Briston County, Massachusetts was the driving force behind the letter; he encouraged Congress to make moves against border and sanctuary policies.

"These sanctuary policies directly undermine and limit cooperation and collaboration between local, state and federal law enforcement, making it harder for America’s sheriffs to protect our citizens and legal residents," he added.

The move was backed by the National Sheriff's Association, with the group's Executive and CEO Jonathan Thompson issued a statement: “Congress’ inaction undermines sheriffs’ ability to protect our citizens. Sheriffs across this country have signed this letter because Congress cannot continue to weaken our efforts to make our communities as safe as possible."

The Trump administration has previously tried to demand that Congress put money toward border wall plans. Mexico has refused to fund its development, despite Trump repeatedly stating throughout his 2016 presidential election campaign and presidency that he would make the country pay for the wall.

The president also recently proposed the idea of funding construction of the border wall through the U.S. military budget...https://archive.is/o/rP6DD/https://.../donald-trump-border-wall-military/index.html

...Trump pitched the idea in a private meeting last week with House Speaker Paul Ryan while reviewing the omnibus spending bill Trump signed into law last week, which includes $1.6 billion for border security, including the development of the wall.

Build the wall using Military funds and deport all traitors who oppose it in Congress to Afghanistan.

Ah, blaming the lack of a wall on their own ineptitude. Great.

Too late, Trump already sold out America and the GOP on the wall.

Legalize drugs and grant work permits to Mexicans. Then...no need for the wall and the drug cartels disappear.

And that’s a tiny fraction of how many sheriffs are serving in America today.
`
True. There were 3,081 sheriff's offices as of 2015. (source)

So more than 10%, I'd say that's an impressive number to have support behind a letter. Just getting a response from that % of Sheriffs nation wide would be a major task.

Build the wall or justify why spending $100B+ a YEAR on illegal immigration makes the one time $25B such a poor investment.

I'll admit, trump has a lock on the low-life support in this country, so over 10% supporting him blindly on any issue, is to be expected.

Granny says, "Dat's right...

... dat'll stop all dem Messicans...

... from comin' here...

... an' shootin' ever'body."

How is a wall to defend from the increase of the already 11 million illegal immigrants into America a position taken by "low-life" supporters?

The Wall must be built in high traffic areas especially around areas where there are towns within rock throwing distance from each other................

In the area's of vast deserts not so much........

But NO WALL will succeed without the manpower to back it up............which will be the ULTIMATE reason for better success in our border security.......

I agree with the sheriffs to an extent................we need more manpower on the border for any program to be effective.

The most important issue is that the Wall cannot be undone. That's why so many on the alt-left despise it. If you get a socialist president, they will simply tell the border agents to stand down, and it's a sieve again. A wall is there regardless of a presidents efforts to allow mass illegal immigration to pour in.

Why do you think there was so much protesting as soon as Trump was sworn in? The global socialists feared that Trump would go right for the Wall. It along with dealing with anti-American global trade abuses is their worst nightmare.

Do they camp in your back yard or something?

So you are ok as long as you don't personally see it on a day to day basis? How will the U.S economy be impacted for the next 25 years? Jobs? Entitlements?

A National Security threat without question. No other nation on earth allows this violation of their Federal law, and this is the only nation defending Western liberty.

First off, I have no problem with this country having strong immigration laws. I have no problem with the government enforcing the laws. Surprisingly enough, I'm not against the idea of a wall, per se, However, I am not a rabid zealot on this issue and am against the draconian, often inhumane, methods the government is using at the moment, for enforcement. You think it's just 11 million? Current estimates say almost 20 million. There has not been an accurate census of the latino's for over ten years. All of this crap is just "too much, too little, too late."

An apologists argument. We all know there is more than 20 mill and that the press and dems play with the numbers as the situation dictates
