The tax bill is very unpopular. Americans just aren't buying it.
At the same time, the GOP is trying to make it into the greatest thing in the history of historical histories because they have to. Especially after the ACA debacle.
So, for the zillionth time, a party has comically over-interpreted its "mandate" and gone too far in obedient obsession with its ideology.
We know what most likely comes next.

I really don't put much stock in a poll over something 95% of the media has been trashing for the last few months.
Sure, the Democrats will enjoy the benefits of this bill just like everyone else....but continue trashing it at the same time.
And our media will go along with them despite the fact that our economy is about to launch into overdrive.
Their only hope is that they can force another recession, just like the last time the took congress.
It all depends on whether America is stupid enough to fall for it again.
Seems to me the problem for the GOP - talking pure politics here - is that they'll only have 11 months for the tax changes to be in effect before the mid-terms, and some of the benefits (as they see them) won't be fully realized until tax time, 2019.
So they have to sell this thing to an unimpressed populace, while hoping that the effects of a (hopefully) growing economy are crystal clear. This is an unpopular President otherwise, the Dems are making 2018 a referendum on him, and mid-terms aren't usually friendly.
It would help if Trump would do more than just play to his base, but I don't see that happening.
