300 Union Plumbers Spent The Weekend Installing Water Filters For Flint Residents For Free

Due to the inaction of state and federal officials, thousands of people in Flint have been exposed to unsafe levels of lead in their water. Now a group of union plumbers are taking matters into their own hands. On Saturday, 300 plumbers from unions across the country descended on Flint to install new faucets and water filters for free.

Those union pirates, interfering with a good crisis that some corporation could have made million on!

How dare they!

Good for them.....
But seriously,if you found out there was a problem with your water and there was a filter available to fix it......why wouldnt it have been done already by the homeowner?
Not all plumbing is simple enough for the average layman to do it.

I didnt say he had to do it himself.
I'd be interested in knowing what type they installed though,I cant imagine it was anything too extravagant for the cost alone.
I would suspect they're faucet mounts that anyone with twenty bucks and a pair of pliers can install in 5 minutes.

Filters won't do the job according to some.

Then why would the plumbers waste their time?

That depends on the kind of filter they put in.

I trust plumbers know which to use.

Union pensions tanked Flint, Flint decided to buy dirty water, Union plumbers install filters.

Nice balance

Think about it.

It depends on the way the filter is set up that the plumbers are replacing. They might be installing the cheap and easy kind that simply redirect the water through an external filter mounted on top of the counter/sink.

They won't hurt according to everybody. The point is they're trying to do something while the government continues to be useless.

Haven't you ever heard of water filters for the faucets in your home?
We use Pur and anybody can install it.

Are you sure about that ? Would you let your children drink lead contaminated water based on the say so of a plumber????? I wouldn't.

Well, seriously, think about why many wouldn't have installed a filter themselves.

It's because of who a good deal of these people are.

They are minorities that have been trained their whole lives to expect the government to take care of them, so naturally they assume at some point they'll get a knock on the door and someone will be there to fix the problem for them.

One has to wonder why everybody doesn't quit their job and live a life of luxury on the taxpayers' dime. :eusa_think:
