What a mess he was...still is. He was at one of the Indian casinos here in Colorado a couple of years ago giving a "boxing exhibition", whatever that is. That's what he does these days. As long as he pays his child support and attempts to pay off his IRS debt, he can stay out of jail. He made and pissed away, $360 million during his boxing heyday; doesn't have a dime to show for it now.

I was stationed in Okinawa at the time and FEN wasn't showing it due to lack of interest so I had to watch it on the local Japanese stations.

So all my memories of that fight are Japanese announcers going crazy!

Who we talkin' about?

Not up on boxing here!

I got this fight on tape.

Rocky 3 reminds me a lot of that fight. That movie accurately shows how when a fighter has it all and everything is going good for him,he gets complacent and not hungry like he is in the beginning to win.

In that film,Rocky started doing all these publicity stunts appearing on the muppets show and things like that and did not train with the kind of intensity against Mr T that he did in his first two fights against appollo and as a result,he got the crap beat out of him.hee hee

well lol and behold, that was exactly what happened to Buster Douglass as well. After he beat Tyson and won that fight, just like Rocky, he also got complacent. He was so elated over his victory over Tyson that he stopped working out hard and got fat and out of shape so much so that in his next fight against Ivander Holifield, got knocked out.

the parralels are very very similiar. Holifield also said Rocky 3 was his favorite film of the Rocky movies because of that realistic aspect of it how when a fighter wins it all,he isnt hungry anymore like Tyson wasnt and later on douglass. same thing that happened to Tyson, happend to Douglass as well.Douglass like Tyson, was not hungry anymore and also got complacent.

Tyson didn't work out much prior to that fight and was out partying the night before. Watching Japanese announcers go crazy was more interesting than the fight.........

I feel pretty confident I've never heard a Rocky movie referred to as accurate before.

the first two films were realistic, after that it got redicules.rocky three however was realistic though in the part with how AGAIN,once a fighter is on top,he gets soft and is not hungry anymore and doesnt train with the same intensity he used to.Thats what happend with Tyson in his fight with Douglas, same with Douglass after he beat Tyson. He got fat and out of shape and lost to Holifield..

Looks like you missed the i mentioned where Holifield said Rocky 3 was his favorite of the rocky series because of how realistic it was with the way a fighter loses his hunger he used to have after he has been on top for a long time.
