It's not even close. For all the shit it gets, Chicago is only the tenth most murder-happy city in the nation, with 24 homicides per 100,000 people each year. St. Louis has almost triple that, with 69.4.At this rate will Chicago eventually run out of people?
Is the birth rate or the mass shooting / murder count / rate higher on Chicago?

On the other hand, Chicago's birth rate was 14.5 per thousand people in 2015, so (assuming it hasn't changed drastically) roughly 1,450 per 100,000 — compared to 24 homicides.
All of Cook County had 54,115 births last year.
