2023 MLB season

Major League Baseball is trying to do away with the Homeplate umpire. As much as I dislike a bad call its part of the game..

The minor leagues have implemented a the computer calling the strikes and balls. We might soon see major-league baseball do the same thing

Yep if they have it will be in the majors soon.thst is just stupid, sure would hate to be growing up playing the sport now.

They should have computers ref the nfl, would stop all the corruption with fixed games, the refs have way too much freaking power.

Ryan O’Hearn had seven hits in a row until the most recent at bat now. Incredible seven consecutive at bats seven consecutive hits. Including a two run home run to the opposite field earlier tonight

Baltimore is currently winning 5 to 3 in the top of the fifth inning tonight

They lost me as a fan a long time ago by implementing that stupid 3 way wild card race, baseball was the ONE sport that did it right, win the division and the rest stay home.

Thats why i hate it that both leagues have the DH now. the strategic outcome does not come into play anymore. That was the perfect way to please ALL baseball fans.have one league have it,the other dont have it.The people who are in favor of the DH like myself AS LONG AS BOTH LEAGUES DONT HAVE IT I AM FAVOR OF IT,the people like me who like the DH get their wish, while the people that hate it get their wish as well. Now you have pissed off the traditionalists like myself and they are losing fans.

as i said,if they are going to change it so that both leagues play under the same rules then at LEAST dont piss off the purists by keeping the DH.at least respect tradition, fuck the MLB.

I have to say I think added WC teams were great. It was great to see a hot underdog team survive the WC round and go into a big market team and beat them around. It should have always been 2 of 3 as it is now? The end of year WC push is the biggest excitement of the whole long dreary baseball season.

I remember 2012? Last day of season? Sitting there with 6 meaningful games (both leagues) going back and forth (TV switching around) many went down to the final pitch, not knowing who the WC teams were until the smoke cleared. Extra innings too. Never have I seen a more exciting 4 hours of Baseball on my TV. Never.

Example of Current odds to win AL or NL. BAL the AL favorite at 3:1. Braves at 1.5:1 for NL.

SEA at 7:1 or Diamonbacks at 19:1 might be interesting for a $10 bet. They do have some pitching.

I can't find what Franklin above got BALT at early in the season? Did he say 2:1? or 20:1?

I agree that having wild card teams is good for baseball. In terms of giving an award to second place, let’s remember that in order to even get into the minor leagues one has to be an exceptional talent.

The National League wild card race is incredible. There’s about five teams competing for three spots all within a game or two of each other. It’s going to come right down to the wire.

I got a bet on the Cincinnati Reds at 2000-1 to win the World Series lol just hoping they make the playoffs

That's a no brainer bet thanks for posting that. The last NL wildcard slot will likely go down to the last game of the season.
Arizona is 80 and 72 they got cut off on my copy paste.
The 4 teams for the last 2 slots. Counting Philly as a lock at 82 wins currently.

CIN swept STL (3 or 4 games at CIN in the first half)....they are going to need that again.
2 back in loss column.

I made the bet a few months ago though. But even when I made the bet, Cincinnati was only about three or four games out of the wildcard. At one point this year, they were in first place in their division.

The Cincinnati and Baltimore manager should be in the front running for manager of the year.

I got the Diamondbacks at 100 to 1 odds. I got some of the NL wildcard teams, and the Milwaukee Brewers on my futures to win the World Series . But my most hopeful future bet of the year is undoubtedly on the Baltimore orioles.

The Orioles are facing the Indians in Cleveland right now. Bottom of the eighth heading bases loaded with no outs. With a spot like this you would love to have Felix Battista, but he’s injured. Let’s see if the Orioles can get out of this jam and win the game tonight.

Baltimore lost in a good game against Cleveland. My Rays are one and a half games back of Baltimore. Its been good season a lot of really good games played.

Yes, and that goes for the Tampa Bay game today as well. They were down one run in the bottom of the ninth and walked it off with a very big win.

MIL has pitching. They almost beat LA last time in the playoffs. Their offense is improved. They may not get the ink but three good starters can go a long way.

CIN need to almost run the table? They seem to be running out of gas? The league figured out DelaCruz perhaps? Been many players start out hitting 400+ then never heard from again. Bo Hart? Rick Ankiel juicer? Brady Anderson 52 HR?

I couldn’t have said it any better. I would add that the Brewers also have I couldn’t of said it any better. I would add that the Brewers also have a solid manager in Craig Counsell… I remember him from his playing days back with the Arizona Diamondbacks. It seem like he always had a baseball mind.

The scouting report seems to be out and effective on Delacruz…. One thing that might save him is his fielding ability along with his running. We will see if he becomes a one hit wonder.

Ankiel lost control as a pitcher. I remember he threw maybe five or seven wild pitches in a row in one inning. Sort of reminds me of when second basemen Chuck Knoblock of the Yankees got the yips and couldn’t throw the ball to the first baseman.

With Ankiel The balls were way over the head of the batter, but he ended up coming back as a decent fielder/hitter…. At one point I think he was using HGH, but it wasn’t banned by baseball while he was using it.

My position on steroids is that it doesn’t necessarily make somebody a better baseball player but increases their ability to work out get a little bit stronger. But they still have to find that raw talent. I thought Barry Bonds was one of the greatest to ever play. Even before the steroid era, he was a tremendous talent. Of course obviously the steroids were problematic and any edge is an edge even if it’s in the weight room.

That home run race between Mcguire and Sosa back in the 90s catapulted baseball back to the spotlight. It brought the game tons and tons of viewers… I will always remember it . I think it was probably the greatest time in baseball in the past 40 years. It’s unfortunate that the steroid scandal diminished it.
