It’s been one hell of a year for the Baltimore orioles. Let me start us off by talking about one of the best games of the year so far today the Orioles victory over the Houston Astros winning 8-7. The game went for over three hours, which surpasses the average this year considering all of the new rules which I don’t like by the way. I’m a baseball traditionalist. I don’t like seeing a 30 second clock on the pitcher. I like the game how it was back in the 1980s when he had Pete Charlie hustle Rose tackle into the catcher to try to score a run.

This year The Orioles are a small market team and they are 2 1/2 games ahead of the Tampa Bay rays …

The Orioles took out Justin Verlander today. They were trailing 5-3 late in the game and tied it up. Then in the top of the ninth-inning, were trailing 7-5. Ryan O’Hearn went five for five an absolutely dominating night by the left-handed hitter. One of the best games hitting wise, by any oriole in the history of the Orioles franchise.

Back to the ninth inning with the Orioles trailing 7-5. They get 2 runners on base with one out and Cedric Mullins one of the best center fielders in the game hits a three run home run to take the lead. And in a wild bottom of the ninth-inning the Orioles hold strong, getting a huge win.

The Orioles just beat the top rated team in the American League at their own place. And they are 6-1 against the Astros this year.

Thankfully, the Atlanta Braves are the best team in the NL. So the Orioles won’t have to face them until possibly the World Series.

It’s been a terrible year for the New York teams, the Mets and the Yankees were projected to make a deep run, and both of them will not make the playoffs.

The Dodgers led by Clayton Kershaw are suffering some injuries…but remain a WS contender.

If the Orioles get their closing ace Felix Bautista back …it seems like they’re unstoppable. Even without him they are beating the best teams in the league.

Like many baseball traditionalists I don’t agree with the new rules. Of course, I still watch the game. It is America’s pastime.

A pitcher should not have to face three batters before he can be pulled… that takes away the right handed and left-handed specialists. It takes away the tactics of the game if you will.

I used to love the games that would go over 15 innings , and take over five hours.

Gary Carter caught the longest game in baseball history. He was the catcher for 19 innings on Independence Day 1982 when the New York Mets faced off against the Atlanta Braves.

Maybe I’m just an old soul, there’s tons of baseball traditionalist that agree with me. Some of the New Age guys don’t agree with it. We live in a day and age of cheap and quick thrills. People are distracted easily I suppose. The age of Instagram. Baseball was America’s national pastime. It was the greatest sport in this country’s history back in the 1900s …and games in those days could go very long. So there you go.

I'm going to be in Camden Yards a week from Saturday for the 2nd to last game of the season, against the Red Sox. I'll be wearing my Braves cap in Birdland, reminding Orioles fans who is going to beat them in this year's World Series.

What??? Atlanta has been divisional champions what 14 times? And have one WS to show for it

The Braves are clearly the elite team in MLB this year. Even after losing 4 straight, they are still 96-54, 14 games ahead of the 2nd place Phillies. They have 5 players with 30+ homers, 4 with 35+ homers, 7 going on 9 players with 20+ homers, and 10 with 10+ homers. They have set MLB records for team home runs. They have scored 213 more runs than their opponents. They lead the majors with a .275+ batting average.

The list goes on and on.

My Cardinals blew chunks this year, although Adam Wainwright pitched 7 great innings last night against the Brewers to get his 200th win.

6 and 1 against the Astros this year and recently beat them in their own place? wow that is awesome. :yes_text12:I am so sick of the Astros.Them and the yankees are the biggest asswipes in baseball.Im elated the yankees suck if only the astros were as bad as them. I knew the O's were a very good team but had no idea they were so successful against the astros this year.

They look to be unstoppable in the American league this year. I would be beyond elated to see them in the world series this year, they havent been there sense 1983.so sick of the yankees and astros every fucking year. Ive always liked the O's. would be awesome if they could win the whole thing for cal ripken.

My most favorite year in recent history was when the royals and O's played each other in the AL championship series.two teams that are not constantly in the playoffs all the time so one of them HAD to make it to the world series and two very likeable teams. That year was bittersweet.

The Rays were in the series a few years ago so its the Orioles turn.

If the O's could win it all that would be the most elated awesome baseball season for me sense the Cubs won the world series. If the Orioles go to the world series, this will be the first time i will watched the world series sense the cubs won it. But even if they just get there, this will still be the most satisfying baseball season for me sense the cubs won the series.Just getting there alone will make me happy, winning it all would be the icing on the cake.

Like many baseball traditionalists I don’t agree with the new rules. Of course, I still watch the game. It is America’s pastime.

I dont know why you still watch it when the owners have ruined the game. First with free agency and now having the DH in BOTH leagues.I always liked it the way it was,one league having it the other not also if they WERE going to have both leagues play under the same rules i would rather both leagues get rid of the DH,at least stick to tradition. whats next allowing them to use aluminum bats?:rolleyes-41:

Also i cant watch baseball anymore with the way the owners have destroyed the game where these small market teams dont have a chance of competing against the big market teams going to the world series.

these days small market teams develop their players for the big market teams. those days of the san diego padres being able to draft a player like Tony Gwynn and have him play his entire career for the padres are over.

I like the game how it was back in the 1980s when he had Pete Charlie hustle Rose tackle into the catcher to try to score a run.

agreed. The owners and players have ruined the game. I miss those good old days back then when players went all out. you will never see those days again where a player will be willing to go all out and tackle into a catcher sacrificing his body like Rose did to win the world series, Now players treat the series like a vacation.

the owners and players of my two favorite sports baseball and football have ruined those sports.

used to be i ALWAYS watched the world series every year, same with the superbowl, now same with football, unless it is a certain team,i wont watch the playoffs anymore or the world series,

Apparently, I miss read one of the stats. The Astros and the Orioles have only face each other a few times this year . But nevertheless the Orioles beat the Astros last night in a incredible game. They were down 7-5 in the top of the ninth ending with one out and Cedric Mullins hit a three run home run to give them the lead. Ryan O’Hearn who batted under 200 with the Royals had five hits last night and he’s batting over 300 with the Orioles.

Many people are frustrated that José Altuve is still allowed in baseball along with some of the other Astros players that were part of the cheating scandal. But it is what it is. It just makes it all the better that Baltimore is quite a few games(10) of the Astros when it to comes to the AL pennant race.

The Atlanta Braves only have two more wins compared to the Baltimore Orioles. It is possible Baltimore will have the most wins in baseball this year.

Some people are greatly exaggerating the Atlanta Braves. You know what if they were 15 games ahead of the Orioles OK I get it but they’re only two games ahead of them.

Don't count out Tampa Bay.

They would be in first place over the Os if they hadn't lost their best hitter to the scandal and had several pitching injuries that led to a three week July slump.

They split the series with the Os last weekend and will be the wild card so they will get another chance at the Os in the playoffs.

good to see the little guy,a small market team have an excellent shot at the world series this year for a change. :yes_text12:

A pitcher should not have to face three batters before he can be pulled

100% agreement. I did not care if the MGR used 12 pitchers in the first inning. he has one left. Not my business.
You forgot "OUTLAW the SHIFT". Preposterous. Makes me angry to think about it. I don't care if they put 7 guys in RF on the warning track. Do they outlaw 5 DB in Football? Prevenet defense?

First with free agency and now having the DH in BOTH leagues.I
Here with come Libstain talking slavery. Abusing the players.

small market teams dont have a chance
Uh....they win a lot more with brains than with dollars it seems. TB STL KC MINN etc. to name a few.

Pete Charlie hustle Rose tackle into the catcher to try to score a run.
I hated it when the catcher was told to setup in the way to take that hit. That is insanity. I like it better now but I hate it took rules to do it.

WC teams often do better. As they don't go stale sitting around doing God knows what waiting and waiting.

I agree the Tampa Bay rays are a great baseball team. Well, let’s not forget the Orioles have also lost Felix Bautista, so that goes both ways. Even if the rays still had wander Franco, they might not match up as well against the orioles as we think.

Nothing on the Astros was ever proven to me? Accusations don't cut it. They all cheat. But then again, maybe I missed it?
