They couldn't even justify* bringing a cold vaccine to market pre 2020. That's how hard it is. It's not going to happen. We are not going to vax our way out of this. As we knew in 2019. Was never on the table to anyone sane. And again even if they could. Animal reservoirs would ruin it and we would have this problem again sooner or later.

but from community immunity... between those vaccinated and those already infected and recovered....we can reduce yearly deaths from 500,000 a year, to something similar to the influenza virus, less than 50,000 deaths a year.
That's good enough, to bring us nearly back to normal living....!

You say that like we aren't in control of when we go back to normal, not covid. We are most certainly in control of when that happens.
In my view beyond the very early surges in NY these shut downs were crazy. We never even filled up hospitals in NY, never tapped into our massive military capacity to provide healthcare either. As soon as it became clear our health infrastructure was in fact not going to collapse we should have just treated it as endemic and moved on.

FYI- You can get a note from your doctor, giving a medical exemption, because you have had covid and have developed antibodies, in a mandate situation.

Estimates are that in NYC for example -- 60% to 70% of NYFDept front line including EMTs CONTRACTED covid before there was ever a vaccine option..

Just on the principles of releasing your MEDICAL RECORDS to your employer to PROVE you were treated for Covid is problematic for medical privacy. Not to mention more than 1/2 of those able-bodied people SOUGHT NO medical treatment when caught CVid working as heroes..

His gambit (which is gonna fail in the courts but not soon enough) is to use OSHA to issue the mandate rules to corporations as they have been dictated by the tyrants in charge of Administration.. Even WITHOUT the paperwork - the large corporations are following the NO exemptions guidelines that they EXPECT to be issued.
And REALLY -- this is the lemming way that corporations get to cover their asses. Because no ONE corporation could MANDATE vaxxing, without attritrion and loss of competitive edge -- a FEDERAL mandate -- is just an excuse for corporate brass to avoid taking the blame for a decision like that.

I have read that medical exemptions for such by their doctors, are being accepted by employers.
The information on how long these antibodies last in ex covid people came out after they had planned the mandate..... from Israel's study, then a few weeks following, other nation studies showed the same thing....the most recent study, shows their antibodies waning at around 16 months....
