Any drug use during that time was under cover ie the the

beats - wasn't mainstream and in-your-face like today .........................

fora ll practicall purposes drug use in the 50s was non-existent

You are simply wrong. Cocaine use was on the rise through the 40s and 50s, and the use and abuse of amphetamines was all but unchecked.
