$14.00 for a regular burger fries and a soda seems outrageous to me.

I usually don't eat much fast food, but I just felt like it on my way home. Wendy's has always been pretty good, so I hit their drive through. Fourteen dollars ($13.83) for a single burger, fries, and a coke. WTF? I understand prices always go up, but that seems excessive to me. Their help wanted adds only offer $10 to $12, so wages aren't the problem. Am I just a cheap old man, or does that sound a little high?

It's ridiculously high.
As did every President and Federal Reserve chairman since 1913. No exceptions. Each was a brick mason who took his turn and built this.

Except Coolidge

According to Wendy's website, a "Dave's Combo" is less than $10.00. That would be a single burger with fixings, fries, and a small drink.

My local Wendy's also has value meals that are quite inexpensive...a small burger, fries, four chicken nuggets and a small Coke for $6.00.

The OP must have ordered something more expensive, like a bacon-cheeseburger, larger fries and larger drink.

When I go to Wendy's (I've been on a diet for three months), I get a baked potato and small chili and a small drink, all for about $8.00. A filling and tasty lunch.

Alternatively, my wife and I go to Arby's and get a Market Fresh sandwich, fries, a cookie, and a soft drink, plus an extra soft drink. Our lunch consists of half of the sandwich (which is more than sufficient), half the fries, half the very-large cookie, and we each get a drink. Lunch for two for about $17.00.

It's possible to eat fast food at a reasonable cost, but you have to scour the menu for better deals.

When we go to Chik-fil-ay, we spend a little more, but it's worth it for the cute girls running around the place.

I have a lot on my plate (pun intended, yes) right now with school and work, but fast food still does not make sense to me. I pack things like bananas and avocados. I can eat an avocado in two minutes. I can eat a banana almost as fast. An avocado can be messy, but still far quick than some crummy fast "food" place.

Nope. I ordered exactly what I said. Seems their value meals don't apply everywhere.

Fast food for my wife and me combined spiked from $12+ to over $19 within a few months of Biden admin. Been paying that much for four years. Prices have mainly plateaued the past year.
