23rd July 21 was the 10th anniversary of Amy Winehouse's death. Doesn't seem that long ago and like a few very rare events that happen and you know exactly where you were and what you were doing at the time. Amy's death registered that deeply in my life.
It's strange that with other artists and bands you could envisage where they would be and what they might achieve in say 5 to 10 years.
I could not envisage that with Amy. I couldn't imagine her even releasing a third album.
Watched a documentary about her last night in which they speculated on what exactly killed her. Her parents splitting when she was 9?
Her relationship with her co-dependent drug-abusing husband Brad? Her relationship with her father? The fame? The Press? The paparazzi? In the end, it was concluded that Amy killed Amy and her inability to overcome her addictions.

I have to wonder if she would have been capable of writing and performing in the unique and brilliant way she did if she had been any other way?

Amy Winehouse - Amy Amy Amy.
