The real reason behind the increase in minimum wage is that many union contracts follow the minimum wage, so it doesn't just mean a raise for those making it, but also all of those union workers whose contracts stipulate an automatic increase when the minimum wage is increased. Another payoff to unions.

And the last thing we need in this country is a well paid workforce.

There are many small business owners who put countless hours into them, who don't draw much pay, who don't take vacations, and who reinvest everything back into their businesses to grow them so that some day they can take it easy. there are about 104,000 people that Federal contracts employ in the future not now.
So in the future contracts what will be affected in that since most of minimum wage earners are low skilled workers i.e. janitors/dish washers here is what will happen:
Janitors will be replaced by robo sweepers that sell for $300.
Automatic dishwashers costs for high volume food locations about $6,000...
equal to the pay increase for ONE dishwasher worker!
So these future low skilled workers will be replaced by automation... just as Obama was predicting ATMs would do!
