You Have to Respect Bill Maher...

You can call Maher a douche, arsehole, scumbag. What you can't say is that is not smart or that he is dumb.

Anybody who says that, is well, dumb...

For the record, I think he's great. Him, Colbert and Stewart are funny as hell and show more insights into politics in one two-minute vignette than a whole swag of CNN or Fox Pundits do in a day...

I do agree with this. He's funny and to be really funny you need some brain power.

He's probably right about enough being enough but he has had plenty to say about the tubby shock jock last week and in past shows.

Howard Stern came out in Rush's defense as well. And when Stern was seriously under attack by the FCC a few years ago because the delay mechanism failed and the caller broke some FCC rule, Rush, Sean and Mark and more conservative talk show hosts stood up for Stern.

Free speech despite being crass or vulgar or vicious is free speech after all.
Stern's a piece of shit. He's the Larry Flynn of the radio.

who's larry flynn?

He meant Larry Flynt.

The People vs. Larry Flynt (1996) - IMDb

And Howard Stern is no Larry Flynt.

Bill Maher is a stupid hack liberal. There is nothing funny, witty, smart or clever about him. Making ignorant jokes isn't a sign of great intelligence. yawn

BTW what is this "We need to respect people for doing what they should have done?" mentality?

We are acting like this is some amazing thing, but the fact is, Maher is just doing what is right here. We should all be doing what is right all the time.
All together now: CASE CLOSED ON Rush. Fluke is out for a buck herself now.

A simple case of CYA. Maher is a media personality and he knows he has to respond to the Limbaugh backlash and calm the storm before pressure mounts for Obama to return his million dollar campaign donation.

Does Rush want to lumped in with STERN?

you know, i can't stand when he does the bimbo parade thing... but when he talks politics stern isn't a stupid guy.

at least he and maher are consistent... they always said if you don't like them, change the channel.

more people should change rush's channel. but what's funny is that it's the same people who wanted to boycott the dixie chicks (and every other "leftie" they disagree with) who are so cranky that rush's sponsors are being pressured).

Personally, I fully support those who practice boycotting. It's great to see that sort of power of the People and the free market work so well, and work well together.

I love someone telling me i "have to respect" so and so. Um...no i don't.

Bill "Schnaz-zoole" Maher has the right to make misogynist statements as does Rush Limbaugh. People have the right to boycott their shows and advertisers that support them if that is something they want to do (although that might be hard to do in the case of Maher). Personally, I have better things to do with my time- I just choose to change the channel.

As for respecting Bill Maher, I don't respect misogynist scumbags that repeatedly call women *****, twats, whores, etc... He's a despicable turd.

Complaining, whining, criticizing isn't the definition of "smart" the last time i checked. The easiest thing in the world to do is to sit on the sidelines bee itching and moaning. If he is such a genius why doesn't he run for office and solve all of our problems. Making Palin jokes doesn't exactly qualify one for the Nobel Prize. Sorry.

Wait. Are you referring to Rush Limbaugh? Glenn Beck? O'Reilly? Hannity? Sounds like it.

Well, I haven't really seen him much. I've seen a few clips of his "Rules" and saw him on The Daily Show once. He's quick-witted, a published author and makes millions. I don't like how harsh he is on my spiritual beliefs (I'm a Christian) but oh well.
He's sort of the Left's version of Sarah Palin but he had to work a lot harder to get thrust into the spotlight. I'm fine with both of them talking and selling books and staying out of politics. :D
