So...anti-gunners.....tell us again how we don't need to own guns because the government will protect us from criminals...
the democrat party controlled states want to use the virus as an excuse to release criminals from jail and prison.....and as a reason to tell police to stand down for various crimes
And it isn't just democrats today......Fort Worth isn't going to arrest criminals for theft under 100 dollars.......so expect more stealing to go on...
And what exactly are the newly released criminals going to do to eat, pay rent, and fuel their drug habits?
Coronavirus prompts Board of Correction to call for release of inmates from NYC jails
The Board of Correction said on Tuesday that New York City should start releasing inmates who are at high risk of contracting the coronavirus — and make efforts to rapidly decrease the jail population.
“The city must drastically reduce the number of people in jail right now and limit new admissions to exceptional circumstances,” the board said in a statement Tuesday.
------
The board — the Correction Department’s oversight body — said the city should prioritize people in custody who are over 50 as well as those who are detained for parole violations, serving one year or less or have underlying health conditions like heart disease, diabetes, lung disease, cancer or a weakened immune system.
----
“Their latest asinine proposal to start letting inmates out of jail who are ‘high risk’ to this virus, regardless of their risk to public safety, is beyond irresponsible,” he added. “Instead of recklessly letting inmates out, call for the city to ramp up its efforts to bring in more masks, gloves, hand sanitizers and other vital supplies for the men and women who must also put their health at risk by showing up to work every day, providing care, custody and control.”
L.A. County releasing some inmates from jail to combat coronavirus
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is releasing inmates from its jails and cutting down on how many people it books into custody to protect those housed in close quarters from the growing coronavirus pandemic.
Sheriff Alex Villanueva said deputies and police officers across the county have been directed to cite and release people whenever possible, instead of arresting them, and to seek medical clearance before booking anyone who shows symptoms. Countywide, he said, arrests have dropped from a daily average of 300 to 60, while the jail population was reduced by more than 600 inmates.
