Yet another reason I like Tina Fey

I don't know any lefties who let comedians do their thinking for them. I know a lot who find their innuendos and insights funny.

However, I do find it funny how the righties on this board let the likes of Beck, hannity, O'reilly et al do their thinking for them. Tell you what Dave, you search for comedian threads started by lefties (even include this one if you like) that spruik comedians thinking for lefties. I'll do the same with Hannity, Beck and Oreilly threads started by the freaks. I might be some time...
Let me tell you a difference between the right and the left.

The right listens to political commentary that agrees with what they think.

The left listens to political commentary that they agree with.

Understand? Conservatives listen to Rush and Beck because Rush and Beck agree with them.

Leftists listen to Olbermann and Maddow because they agree with Olbermann and Maddow.

The difference is subtle yet vast.

And isn't it great in America we have the CHOICE to listen/watch to whoever we want?

Or the choice NOT to watch.....

People on here parrot what is said on all of these so called 'political' shows, be it the left or the right.

What would be even better is if people could think for themselves, instead of having others think for them.

You know who I miss? Tim Russert. Loved watching him on Sundays.

:clap2:

I agree. But, as an observation... I have yet to see anyone from the right call for any commentator on the left to be silenced. That's because freedom matters more. It is a pity that the left don't learn that.

but that wasn't the issue and wasn't what was being made fun of... it was the vapidness of expression and lack of gravitas... which fey captured perfectly.

Sigh.

Where did I say anything in defense of Palin or against Fey's impersonation of her? I thought it was brilliant, and that it did more to put Fey on the map than anything else she has done.

Feel better now?

most people elected president don't have direct foreign policy experience. but a senator generally has more than a governor. in palin's case, she didn't even have a handle on the issues, which i think is more to the point.

Obama was a Senator for less than a year before he started running for president. I would stack up Jerry Brown's foreign policy experience against 75% of the senators who are currently serving. I guess that means that I it just depends on the senator and the governor.

grump said it was "commentary" and fey taking digs at palin.

He claimed that it was a quote, which means he thought that Fey was actually quoting Palin.

He was flat out wrong, and your defense of him is silly.

the fact that others may believe it is due to a lack of actual knowledge... same as people who say the president is a muslimsocialistkenyan.

Which is why Grump is no better than they are.

and that happens with skits. it's something politicians deal with. palin's people have always had trouble running with the big boys and are very thin skinned and as enamored of their 'victim-hood' as palin is.

Sounds a lot like Obama to me.

It wasn't a quote, it was a line in a comedy skit. The fact that you do not know the difference is oddly telling. We do not even know who wrote it, My guess is it was not Fey, though I will admit it could have been.

So she wasn't having a dig at Palin...rrriiiigggghhtttt. And the likelihood of her writing it is pretty high. If you can't see the likes of Maher, Colbert and Fey taking the piss out of politicians as commenting, then that is oddly telling...

Where did I say that? I flat out admitted it could be her line, I just see it as unlikely since SNL actually has a team of writers for skits like that. I just pointed out that it is not a quote.

That left a mark. Will dump notice? Probably not.

Didn't even leave a pinprick. I'm surprised you're able to keep up...

...oh, that's right, you're not...

Allie was right, you didn't notice the mark.

That just makes it more visible.

Oh, I noticed the attempt at a mark...it fell well short...

I've never understood the left's predilection for letting comedians do their thinking for them.

Something Freudian going on, I think.

Oh Poppycock. There is no subtle difference..They are one and the same. It's parrots parrotting....on both sides.

Er, no. I thought Fey was taking the piss out of Palin. At no time did I think she was actually quoting Palin. Just paraphrasing....but getting to the point quick, smart...

Which is why you called her quip a quote of Plain.

Nice try.

Here. I even bolded the relevent part for you (and italicised the most important word):

"You think her "I can see Russia from my house" quote when she was playing Palin wasn't saying 'something' about the former governor."

You were saying?

Yes, there is parroting.

But the subtle difference I outlined seems to have escaped you. Gasp.

No, I did not miss it, I just disagreed with it..

now that is NOT a subtle difference...

Palin has no trouble at all running with the big boys.

Which is why the left hates her.
The left don’t ‘hate’ Palin, but they do consider her an idiot:

In 2008 Palin told Katie Couric that the Constitution does, in fact, guarantee “an inherent right to privacy,” à la Roe v. Wade, but added that “individual states…can handle an issue like that.” Unfortunately, Palin’s hypothesis would only be viable in a world without the Fourteenth Amendment, which gave Washington sole responsibility for safeguarding all constitutional rights.

And for good reason.

pbs/npr

Nobody called for the silencing of pbs/npr. They called for a halt of public funding of an admittedly biased lefty stronghold.

Another one of those subtleties that is impossible for leftards to grasp.

Not from the majority.

So name someone.

Besides which, this is a privately owned site. Nobody has proposed that TM be prevented from saying anything she likes. Asking that she be banned from this particular site is not the same thing as attempting to prevent her from spreading her silliness anywhere.

It's not as though anyone was telling her to go into her basement and shout her stuff at the walls or suffer the consequences...that's something that only the Christian haters do...i.e., the left.
