Here's the thing: Even if you believe that the "Palestinians" living in Gaza have legitimate gripes against the Israeli overlords, the recent action by Hamas is unacceptable to any civilized person. It is analogous to shooting someone because they repeatedly block your driveway so you can't go to work.

You are aggrieved, but civilized behavior calls for a proportionate and legal response.

I think it's very clear that people are being railroaded into certain kinds of sentiment because of the political parties that they support or belong to.
