Would John McCain as President Be Doing A Better Job At This Point?

$400 billion deficit to greet Bush's successor - USATODAY.com

He or she will need to spend far more in Iraq and Afghanistan than Bush proposed, because he included only $70 billion — designed to last until Jan. 20, when he leaves office. White House budget director Jim Nussle said Monday that even the cost of drawing down forces is "surprisingly high."

Congress stopped sending bills to pay for anything to his desk. As a matter of fact....Congress still hasn't produced a budget so nobody knows exactly what they are spending. They blame him for not paying for it but if you check the Constitution Congress holds the purse-strings.

All that being said,i still think he would be more of a leader than this current President is. He wouldn't have divided our nation like this President and the Democrats have with their endless Race-Baiting stuff. Like i said earlier,i don't think McCain would have done too much different than this President has. I just think he would have worked in a more reasoned & bipartisan fashion to solve our problems. His history in Congress shows that he does possess an ability to work in a bipartisan fashion. Now we're not only suffering in an economic collapse but we are also much more divided as a nation. I feel that this President and the Democrats have caused this division. So for that reason i have to say that McCain would probably be doing a better job at this point. Just my opinion anyway.

John McCain served our nation with incredible honor & bravery. I may disagree with him on some political issues but i will always respect the man for his service. To insult & denigrate the man's service is definitely going to = some pretty bad Karma for ya down the road. John McCain is a good man.

John McCain was one of the original Keating 5.

John McCain has been senator of Arizona for decades, what has he done for immigration reform?

John McCain received a grade of D and a score of 20% from Veterans groups during his run for the presidency.

"The nice thing about Alzheimer's is you get to hide your own Easter eggs," John McCain said to reporters

John McCain said women should pay for birth control, but insurance companies should pay for "Viagra". Birth control is a "lifestyle" choice, but "erectile dysfunction (lackaboner)" is a "medical condition".

He did one good thing:
McCain comes to Kerry's defense

WASHINGTON - Republican Sen. John McCain, a former prisoner of war in Vietnam, called an ad [Swift Boat Veterans for Truth] criticizing John Kerry's military service "dishonest and dishonorable" . . . "I deplore this kind of politics," McCain said. "I think the ad is dishonest and dishonorable."

The*mythical John McCain

The Keating 5 cost us $140 billion which has all been paid back.

What has Obama and friends cost us.....$3 trillion so far?

Are you talking about what Obama "inherited"? Tell the truth now.

That includes 7 years of increasing GDP, unemployment in the 4-5% range and low inflation. If that's incompetent I want more of it.

Amen Brotha. Please give me some of that old "incompetence."

You cons lie so fucking much.

You can't even read your chart in historical context.

The DotCom Crash - have you heard of it?

9/11 - have you heard of it?

Bush cut taxes in 2001 and 2003 (after much cynical compromised required by the Dems) in order to deal with the double whammy of the DotCom Crash and 9/11. After growth resumed and unemployment fell below 5%, the Lefties still kept sobbing about a Jobless Recovery. If that was a jobless recovery, what on earth do you call persistent unemployment above 9%, ever after an $800B Stimulus bill?

When someone from the White Wing Conservative Confederate Republican Party of Teabags, a party that is 90% white and makes a hero out of the man that attempted to smear Shirley Sherrod and ruin her life, complains about racism, I just want to barf.

mccain would have been more of the shrub...

and palin?

you idiots don't even remember how confused, perplexed and clueless mccain was when the economy tanked.

and THAT is why he lost... because when he actually was tested, he failed.

and his VP pick was probably one of the more unpatriotic things i've ever seen anyone do.

McCain lost because he didn't put up a fight.

Plus he looked old and crippled while Obama looked young and spiffy in his silk suits and about a quart of makeup.

The ultimate results of the Bush tax cut.

Do you hate Palin because she's better looking than you or because she is more successful?

With the way things are going for this nation right now,i think it's fair to ask this question. In my opinion this current President & Democrats have done everything they can to divide the nation. I think many Americans are now growing very weary of all their Race-Baiting & Class Warfare stuff. I just don't think John McCain would have divided the nation this way. I think he would have been a good leader who would have solved problems with reason & bipartisanship. His long history of service in Congress shows that he does have the ability to solve problems this way. The Democrats' Divide & Conquer strategy is laying waste to our nation. It really is a tragedy. Is having power really worth tearing our nation apart this way? Anyway,i really am interested in hearing what others think on this question. Thanks.

All I can say is we couldn't be worse off.

I know...with a full blown depression and rioting in the streets of all our major cities and our infrastructure falling apart and ....

Unpatriotic? What?

Better off or worse off? Doesn't matter. He's not the President, Obama is.

Are we better off or worse off with Obama in the big chair?

That is the question...

There's no doubt that McCain would have re-acted differently to the economy. For one we wouldn't have had that 787 BILLION in economic stimulus--that really wasn't shoved down our throats. McCain would have cut government spending right off of the get-go. He's a hammer that way.

That's about the way I see it as well. Not likely much better, but sure as fuck no worse.
Although I don't think the racial tension these assholes keep promoting and pushing to the forefront would be what it is.

What the fuck does McCain know about being a working class citizen?

He and his entire family going back generations have been sucking off the US government's teat.

The man's never had a real job!
