Would Jesus approve of Glenn Beck's rhetoric?

I say no.

errr...

I mean...

HELL FUCKING NO!!!

Why?

I watched some of it, I thought it was nothing outrageous, nothing truly offensive towards others....not what I had expected at all....

granted, I only got about 15 minutes of it, before I changed channels, but it seemed pretty ho hum, to me...?

I think he is talking about the crap he says on his radio and tv show. ;)
And I doubt Jesus would approve of that.

I really feel for those conservatives who travelled all that way to rally against the socialist agenda of the current administration and to complain that Obama is a foreign-born muslim, only to find out that they were at a crowded outdoor church service.

Ní dhéanfaidh ach Dia breithiúnas orm (Only God shall Judge me) seems the appropriate response.

ahhhhh, well you are more than likely right, on what he was referring to, I guess I just got glenn Beck Rally on my brain from all the different but similar, threads on it.

Which is why I didn't say Jesus would FOR SURE not approve. ;)

But I doubt Jesus likes people who speak about hating others so much.

This reminds me of tourettes syndrome.... (sorry, LuLu).... I keep seeing people claim that Beck is spreading hate.... I keep digging, watching clips of his show etc.... I can find no evidence of 'hate'. In fact, it appears to me that, while I don't necessarily agree with the guy, he's said nothing remotely like 'hate'.

However, I have seen, from left leaning media, all kinds of unfounded allegations about 'bigots' and 'racists'. I could easily define that as 'hate' speech.

In fact, it seems to me that a whole bunch of people are just running around throwing baseless accusations at anyone who disagrees with them.

You might want to put in "Glenn Beck hates 9/11 victims or Katrina Victims", also " Glenn Beck and the California fires", and " If you are ugly woman, you are probably a progress".
Try "glenn beck" " Michael Moore". We will talk after that.

I've seen the 9/11 stuff - I find it to have been misrepresented by others. He didn't say he hates them.... etc etc etc.

And the ugly women thing - stupid, but hardly what I would deem 'hate'. He made a stupid joke. People do that. Hell, I've been called a bigot and a racist - am I supposed to think those people 'hate' me? No. I put it down to stupidity and ignorance. Truthmatters says she hates all Republicans. Does she? I doubt it. It was a stupid remark but I doubt she actually hates all Republicans. If she does, it's her problem. I won't make it mine.

I haven't found the Michael Moore comment.

Personally, I think pretty much anyone who does as much radio and tv as Beck does is going to make the occasional stupid statement. Does that mean I should dismiss everything he says? No. Any more than I should dismiss everything Obama says because I am offended by his 'typical white people' comment. Referring to 'typical white people' is racist. Just as it would be to refer to 'typical black people'.

He said 10. There were 10 people among the thousands that pissed him off. I understand that. I saw a few interviews with some family members that kind of annoyed me too. So what?

Personally, I'm still trying to dig around on Beck to see what all the outrage is about.... However, as a general comment I think that, if any of us were to spend an hour a day on live radio for a year.... I bet the rest of the forum could find plenty of off the cuff remarks that they would consider offensive.

What I need.... in order to ascertain that he is 'spewing hate' is consistent, constant, rhetoric on the same theme. So far, I have not found that to be the case. If you have the evidence, I'd like to see it.

my guess is that jesus would remind manifold that glen beck, and beck's crusade, is "of this world" and neither here nor there to the application of his message of love and forgiveness and the desire to see the kingdom of heaven. Jesus didn't rally against politicians or public figures outside of those who gamed legalese with hebrew scripture. Hell, he complied with earthly authority during and up to the crucifixion and commanded to obey the laws of the land. He may deem Beck's ilk a false prophet insomuch that beck's opinion of spirituality might not have matched that of jesus but, ultimately, thats only conjecture.

That changes everything.
He hates people who lost family members, I don't care what they wanted, they deserve Beck saying such crap.
