With permission requested from Mods: a re-post with new commentary - yes, an American brigade should be forward posted in Poland

Currently, a total of about 10,000 troops of the US armed forces are stationed in Poland, primarily as part of a rotational presence. V Corps Forward Headquarters is one of the US military installations in Poland, located in Camp Kościuszko in Poznań as part of the US Army permanent presence.

Increasing the US military presence in Poland - Gov.pl

Now think about those troops. They are next to Russia and it's invasion. Our troops train to defeat the Russians. Why are they still in Poland when Zelensky has asked for them for two plus years?

The Trump administration kept prodding South Korea and Japan to pay more of the costs of tens of thousands of US troops within their borders.

At the time, Poland agreed to pay the majority of costs associated with stationing 5,500 US troops at bases within its borders as part of a new security cooperation pact, which is now increased to 10,000 rotational troops.

This is why Poland will never be invaded by Russia, unless Poland attacks Russia, as Putin said in the Carlson interview. Poland may need this security guarantee as a powerless state that has been repeatedly invaded by major powers. Poland is now perceived no longer as an independent country but as a country actively cooperating with the United States similar to South Korea.

That is unfair to Trump. Because he was talking to NATO not paying bills for years. And he wants Nato to be an adult and do what they promised to do.

I was sent by Kennedy to Germany in 1962 and we had many divisions also based in Germany at the time. We have had divisions based in Korea and even Japan now. I do not understand the hate for Reagan who actually put the end to the Soviets. Defense used to be a good word.

This is all just so stupid.

Russia cant beat Ukraine (who is at this point fighting this war with 40 y/o's) but they are going to over run all of Europe and we will be fighting them in the streets of the US now unless they are stopped there...

We do need 'forward' posted units in nations bordering Russia, and not just in Poland.

Findland and Sweden and the Baltic Republics should request American posts in their countries.

They would serve as 'tripwires' in a Russian invasion comes, engaging American troops that would bring US and NATO to that nation's defense.

It will be necessary to post American units in Ukraine as well before long.

[Thank you, Litwin] Army spokesperson Col. Roger Cabiness II told Army Times, however, that “forward basing of an ABCT is not a simple task.” Doing so would require diplomatic and legislative approvals both at home and abroad.

The report’s authors also recommended that the Air Force station an additional F-16 squadron in Germany; increase anti-submarine warfare capability and air defense forces; bolster stockpiles of prepositioned equipment and ammunition; and continue modernization, cyber, space and security cooperation efforts

The Center for Strategic and International Studies said the Army should reduce its Europe rotations in favor of permanent bases.

3 white men vs. 4 your fav semi- muslim hordesmen
The last 🇷🇺 🇸🇦 guy felt safer running to the armed Ukrainians that just killed his comrades than surrendering in front of the other hordesmen while they were still alive. Says a lot about 🇷🇺🇸🇦them.

Only an idiot ever envisioned a scenario where we could be fighting Russians in Philadelphia...

Sergeant Bill makes a valid point. Another point to factor is that battles would be fought near Cracow and not Philadelphia.
Actually, sending American forces (as tripwires) to Krakow will decrease, not increase the safety of Philadelphia. The Russian footmen won't be able to come to Philadelphia at their feet. But the Russian missiles are pretty able to destroy it. And the "tripwires", by the definition, decrease our liberty in making our own decisions, and increase danger of the Russian nuclear attack against American nuclear forces and American cities.

I see this as we speak of France ahead of the invasion by the US in 1944. I am sure that millions of Americans did not want their youth invading any country much less France. But to beat Hitler it was then considered worth invading France to end the nazis. Somebody will help Ukraine. Be it us or more from Germany or from Poland it will be helped to defeat the Russians.
You see... To defeat the Russians we need at least matching nuclear forces to be able survive WWIII, win WWIII and prevail in post-WWIII world. Right now the Russians can win any game by simply raising the bets.

No one has ruined our military, and we as a fighting machine are much better that now almost all of the uniformed MAGAitry has been run out of it.
We are out of artillery, our Abrams MBT has been de facto removed from Ukrainian front lines because it is a walking heat signature, and according to his spokesman, our people who are military fight for Biden
