At the moment the US has a huge PR problem. People outside its borders generally don't like it. Why? George Bush and a bullying "do as we tell you, not as we do" big stick being waved. I think Obama has the ability to make the US back into one of the most well liked nations again. It'll take a while, and a lot of hard work, but he can do it. His biggest problem will be whether he kowtows to certain lobby groups within the US political system.

Assuming Obama wins, no the world isn't going to like us more. If he returns the US to the "all give no take" policy we had before, the "world" might make a little less noise, but that's about it.

The world has been villifying and blaming everything on the US since it no longer needed us to protect it from communist aggression. It hasn't mattered who was President at the time.

This is merely another bunch of junk laid on Bush by the left that started way before him.

As far as Obama goes, he's from one of the most corrupt political systems in this nation and the people around him are crooks or kooks. It doesn't even matter if the lobbies own his ass because they own Congress.

Liberal Americans hate the US policies more than foreigners do. Who in the hell are you kidding

You guys continue to run around with the wool over your eyes. Nobody likes conservative America. They are from a time long gone past. The rest of the world has moved on. And to be honest, most of us non-Americans wouldn't give two hoots if your arses wanted to stay conservative, as long as it didn't affect the rest of us. Unfortuntely, that isn't the case.

Gunny, we bitch and moan about the US for good reason (mostly). Doing good in the past, doesn't give you guys the right to act like the rest of us owe you and we should do your bidding. You guys hate it when the likes of Chavez and Castro stamp their feet making demands, what makes you thing the rest of us want to kowtow to you guys?

Obama will heal rifts...you wait and see...

Absolutely.

Its hard to imagine anyone liking us any less.

Of course, the same could be same about McCain. Whether its McCain or Obama, the world will be more willing to work with America.

Never in my life when I've traveled outside of this country have I found the standing of America to be as low as it is now.

"Nobody." Seems to me that wool might be in YOUR eyes, not mine.

Let's see ... you sit in NZ and bitch about conservative America but what has it done to YOU? Nothing. What has the US done to any of you stagnant, socialist remnants of European society and colonialism in the final throes of democrcy dying? Nothing.

You need to get your history in perspective. We're following right down the shitter with you. As the youngest Euro-baby, we're just the furthest behind. We're well on our way to catching up to y'all's existence in mediocrity.

Even y'all had balls once upon a time. Don't blame us because all of us haven't lost ours yet.

If Obama wins the world will love us again, because we will roll over and take it up the ass for anyone who wants to fuck us. Obama will want to dialouge with everyone from Imawhackjob in Iran to Kim Reallyill Sung in Korea and they'll promise the world while laughing behind our backs.

Such profundity, hate!

"The President is merely the most important among a large number of public servants. He should be supported or opposed exactly to the degree which is warranted by his good conduct or bad conduct, his efficiency or inefficiency in rendering loyal, able, and disinterested service to the Nation as a whole. Therefore it is absolutely necessary that there should be full liberty to tell the truth about his acts, and this means that it is exactly necessary to blame him when he does wrong as to praise him when he does right. Any other attitude in an American citizen is both base and servile. To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else." Teddy Roosevelt

Is that your secret for love? Kinda bizarre.

There are alot of people that would rather see a Conservative America than Liberal America. Muslims are Conservative in nature and religion, many other nations and their religions/beliefs are conservative in nature. This is a pretty generalized statement.

I have been to Muslim countries, Asian and African countries and many European countries in the last year and a half, and I have yet to encounter more than a handful of people who have anything good to say about the United States. At times when the discussion has turned to politics, almost without fail they criticize the Bush administration, and when Obama does come up, I have never heard other than a kind word, although most people from other countries seem to think that we are too racist to elect a black man president.

I am not saying everyone everywhere feels this way, but in terms of a generalized sentiment, I think there certainly is one.

As GunnyL pointed out they have been hating us for a long time, just until 1990 they needed us to protect their sorry lazy asses. Now they think they don't need us so can be more open with their disdain.

I believe there are opinion polls that show they dislike us more now than they used to.

Does this mean bin laden's endorsing McCain?

Reilly, did I say that they would rather see Bush in office?

I'm not talking about President Bush, and your automatic assumption that I was is pretty shallow. "Conservative" doesn't mean "Bush" or "Neocon" or "republican." What I'm saying, is that other nations, including Muslim nations, perfer a more conservative lifestyle....therefore, many would be more happy if the U.S. were more Conservative in lifestyle and politics. I'm not saying that some would not like a liberal U.S. I was replying to the general statement made by Dr. Gump that "Nobody likes conservative America." THe actual statement should be that "Nobody likes Bush's screw-up." The problem is that many people automatically categorize Conservative values and politics with Bush and his policies.

I'd be willing to bet that a Muslim nation would support a respectable conservative leader rather than an extreme liberal....unless he was muslim..lol.

It's a pretty basic concept. People are going to support whoever has most in common with their beliefs, values, and lifestyle.

Don't get your panties in a bunch. It's okay.

Bush is the head of the Republican party, which professes to be the conservative party. That is why people make that jump. Otherwise, I would agree with the statement that "nobody likes Bush's screw-up." I have no data to determine how people feel about a conservative America, except with respect to Europe.

I apologize for being "shallow."

Bush is NOT the head, he is the US President, last I checked he is not head of the RNC nor does he write nor approve the planks and core beliefs republicans have.

"How they have forsaken me!"

I thought the President is generally thought to be the head of the party in power. Whatever. Surely you can still see why people make that jump.
