Why Was This Not Done At Once?

I've said this from day one. If you can't fire them... disband whatever department they work for. It's a no brainer.
Why didn't he...? Because despite what the leftist propaganda mill would have you believe; Trump has tried to be bipartisan. But the left isn't accepting his olive branch. So now he needs to give them the axe instead. They've forced his hand in the matter.

A better question would be why didn't Sessions recuse himself from the beginning, instead of hoping his contact with the Russians wouldn't be exposed? He didn't have to look as guilty as he does now.
An even better question is why Republicans became so enamored with Russia after their hostile invasion of Crimea, and why so many members of the alt-right and establishment GOP have turned to Russia for political and monetary gain. And how for the first time in 60 years Russia has managed to capture the adoration of a nationwide movement in the U.S.
