Why doesn't every huge company do this?

What Does Chobani's Founder Get For Giving 10% Of His Company To Workers?

Not only do employees get better compensation, but the company will fare better. Meanwhile, Wal-Mart pays its employees pauper's wages and gets the PR black-eye in the process.

You should definitely start your own huge company and do this.

Typical small-minded Trump-Rube, weighing in with his pro-corporatist evangelism.

This approach has been successful in other environments, with some companies owned outright by the workers with the salaries managed such that the highest paid workers make no more the 6 times what the least paid workers receive. In america? Difficult lift. This is an authoritarian top down society. We for the most part cannot even imagine that here. Concentrated corporate wealth and power, which is in essence our "government", understands it has lost all legitimacy and will never allow self rule to arise in america.

Why are you still posting?
Go forth...start your company.

Seriously, people are free to form a corporation/business and run it that way if they like. According to the OP, such a company should have an advantage over companies that don't share ownership with their employees.

The proof is in the pudding.

Do you forget Chobani is one plant with 2,000 employees and only SOME of them will become rich VS Walmart is retail based with millions of employees. Even if Walmart gave all it's employees a share of profit (which they do have a profit sharing), none of them would be rich?

You're comparing apples to oranges and it doesn't work

It depends on whether the company sees its employees as valuable assets or a necessary burden.

And companies who view them as the former do far better. The problem is a typically human one: Shortsightedness.

It's the reason people wanted Trump. They only see the short-term gain of lower taxes, a supreme court justice who will vote for their pet causes; never seeing the longview.

define paupers wage

That would be the wages a pauper gets. Since most Walmart workers depend on government subsistence of some type, they would qualify.

Most? Do you have a number to back that up?

That glorious socialist future you and your ilk keep hoping for?

You want Utopia, you get Venezuela.

So aLL YA got is talking points.......is 11.22hr for 18hr per week HS student pauper???

Walmart seems to find enough workers. If working there is like being a slave in a sweatshop, the friendly smiling workers sure put on a good act.
Someone hates their job they are free to quit. The only limits in America are self imposed. No one owes anyone else a certain standard of living. It's up to the individual to figure it out. That's freedom.

I loved the way Chobani was so sweet to all those deserving workers in depressed upstate NY but then when it was time to go really big he moved to North Dakota or some place and stalled the careers of his beloved workers in NY.

Eh, I remember a time when the average standard of living was much higher in America.

yes, and with the huge technological progress we have made our standard of living should be much higher now but the more govt taxes and wastes and the more it interferes with business the poorer we get. Republican capitalism is holding us mostly steady but govt is sucking up and wasting the gains, you might say.

The government is way overbloated. It's like this: It can't be all chiefs and no Indians.

There's no way we can continue to be free and have the opportunity to succeed with the government as large and intrusive as it is right now.

Its great when companies are generous, maybe it works for Chobanis, but other companies should not be forced. Its diversity in the workplace , thats good and thats healthy. If people always get everything they want then they strive less to move ahead. Maybe some of those Walmart Employees will quit and work at Chobanis or maybe some of those thousands of Walmart employees will get fed up with their job, take some business courses and start their own company someday, because they hated working for Walmart. Now if they were all paid 16 dollars an hour they might just be contenet to stay there.
But its much better for an economy when peoples fortunes rise and fall, thats why some of the greatest achievers often have humble beginnings. Communist and socialist countries though stifle the push to the top because they are always playing the class warfare card. Just like a Lot of left leaning democrats do.
