Why doesn't every huge company do this?

I've recently taken over my 3rd failed ESOP company and am less than enamored with the concept. Companies, like ships, need one competent and strong person in charge. No other system has ever come close in creating societal wealth (though sometimes it is abused).

The OP is a solid question and it happens more often than you think, profit sharing is pretty common and cash dividends beats minority stock ownership every day.

Its great when companies are generous, maybe it works for Chobanis, .
no its not!!! it might be great for employees but not for customers!!

imagine one economy that was customer oriented and another that was worker oriented. Do you know how the Marxist economy would fare???

I wasnt talking about either , OR. There should be room inside of a healthy economy for different types of business models and if a business owner chooses to be generous, Thats a lot better than the government putting its hand in your pocket and forcing you to be generous. Let the market decide which business models will have the most success for their particular demographics. I don't see what's wrong with that.

imagine one economy worker oriented and another consumer oriented? Which would have millions starving in the streets?

Given that the question would only be valid if you discounted all the programs in place that prevent that, both public and private, it seems a bit of a stretch.

The economy oriented towards the workers would probably have far fewer businesses. Who would put up the capital, put their own financial future on the line, and use their extensive business knowledge for profits for someone else.

The consumer oriented economy would likely have a much better chance of success. After all, boycotts and the like have shown that consumers can effect the way a business operates.

a consumer economy would be oriented at raising the consumers standard of living at the fastest possible rate

a worker oriented (Marxist) economy would be oriented toward the worker who wants high pay, few hours, great working conditions, easy work, low productivity. This is how liberals and Marxists destroy an economy.

I don't believe in the communist/ socialist system either, I'm simply saying if a company wants to go ahead and be generous to their employees thats great. If it makes them less efficient compared to their competators then they best have a good product or they may not be in business long. I'm all for freedom in the workplace as long as people are not breaking laws. Running your own business, you should be able to express yourself, I'm all for the freedom to do that. I'm not really meaning to argue about anything here. I'm not trying to promote socialism and tight wage controls by a government on businesses.

What Does Chobani's Founder Get For Giving 10% Of His Company To Workers?

Not only do employees get better compensation, but the company will fare better. Meanwhile, Wal-Mart pays its employees pauper's wages and gets the PR black-eye in the process.

Typical of Progressives. They pick a tiny example and say WHY NOT FOR AMERICA. Like comparing Denmark with America.

Chobani has 2,000 employees and is an LLC. It is not traded on the NYSE. A relatively small company. You may open your own company and do the same.

Walmart, as you know, pays comparable wages to other discount retailers. They are traded on the NYSE and, instead of 2,000 employees, they have 1.4 million employees in the U.S. and 2.3 million worldwide.

That would be the wages a pauper gets. Since most Walmart workers depend on government subsistence of some type, they would qualify.

A pauper is extremely poor by definition.

Sure they do. In the 80s a cell phone was an extremely expensive device. I remember paying $800 for a used bag phone, and $1.25 per minute talk time. Today, you can get a burner phone and a few minutes for 25 bucks. TVs are pretty cheap too. Why don't you just admit that you want poor people to suffer more than they already do. It's quite obvious to anyone who reads your posts.

very true!! On top of liberal economic policies that have reduced real income in America we have the liberal war on our families, schools and religions that has rendered many Americans unfit to think clearly let alone to earn a middle class income!!
