Why do people act like anyone else has a shot in 2016?

Hillary is going to win. Literally nothing could change that. No scandal. No lie. No election. Nothing could change the fact that she's going to be swearing in come January 2017 regardless of anything that's happened before now or anything that might happen between now and her coming inauguration. This much is obvious even this far out and, quite frankly, the GOP is wasting its time, money, and remaining scraps of support trying to fight it. You simply can't fight this. 2017 will see the first four years of our first female president's administration. It doesn't matter how many people vote which way or the other. It doesn't matter who says what or what is said by whom. It's going to happen.

It really isn't any different than Obama's elections. The outcome was final before the polls even opened. That's just how it works. The smart thing to do would be to accept this and find a way to work within the system. The smart thing for the GOP to do would be to accept that they will be the party of Congress so long as they continue gerrymandering skillfully and be happy with that. It's the only influence they're going to have over the White House from this point forward. For all practical purposes it has been since Bush.
