Why do liberals love the past??

There is nothing liberating about over taxation.
There is nothing liberating about regulations.
There is nothing liberating abut mandates.

Well, Barkfury, if I may change a few terms a bit:

There is nothing liberating about having to go to school.
There is nothing liberating about having a job.
There is nothing liberating about having to support a family.

See the pattern emerging when you have to live within a social contract ???

no so please tell us what the pattern is or admit as a typical liberal you lack the IQ to be here

. I had no idea that Friedman prevented the housing crisis from turning into another Great Depression.

of course you had no idea, because you are a typical liberal with no brains whatsoever. If you don't think its was Friedman's wisdom that Bernanke used please tell us whose it was or admit with your silence or attempts to change the subject that you are a typical 100% brainless liberal.

mouselady strikes again!!

It was Friedman's deregulation of the banking industry which caused the housing bubble in the first place.

I realize that you're too brainwashed to believe it, what with your worship if Friedman and all but all of his economic theories have been debunked and there are many who think he should be tried for war crimes for the destruction he caused yo several economies in the 70's and 80's.

But keep promoting failed ideologies Special Ed. Don't read anything that disputes your masters' voices.

for 2nd time mouselady:

Remember the quip about wrestling with pigs in a sty, and that one gets dirty and the pig seems to like it? It applies well to this thread and the pig who started it.

Conservatives love the present. They love the freedom from govt that our revolutionary Founders gave us while liberals love the past where huge central, bloody governments shaped human history for 1000's of years.
Conservatives love the present......and then you go on to talk about history.
Begs the question: Did you bother thinking about the question before you asked it?

You say one thing, then support the opposite. If you love the small federal government that was around in pre-FDR times then you love the past. The national government here in the present is much bigger and complex then anything in the past.

think in 200-1000 year periods. Liberals want to go back to when history was shaped by all powerful central govts that progressed quickly. Our founders were the exact opposite
More history for dim wits.

The Founders worked very hard to create a national, united government, .

most importantly not national govt but a federal govt that was very very tiny, in fact 1% the size of todays on a per capita inflation adjusted basis. We know this exactly from the numbers and from how the founders governed as presidents!

Welcome to your first lesson in American History:

Jeffefrson:
"The path we have to pursue[when Jefferson was President ] is so quiet that we have nothing scarcely to propose to our Legislature."
I can see how much you love the present, that's why you aren't inclined to learn anything from history. Just make it up as you go along.

There were no large central governments when the U.S. was founded.

The entire population of the U.S. in 1776 was 2.5 million people. A large government wasn't needed to run a country of 2.5 million.

As the country has grown, the government infrastructure to support the needs of the people and the businesses has, of necessity, grown.

actually dear there was the govt of England, France, Spain, Russia. See why we must be 100% positive that the liberal will be slow?? What other conclusion is possible.

100% stupid and liberal of course since ever growing soviet govt infrastructure or crippling welfare entitlements don't support our needs but rather buy votes and thus destroy our democracy and country. The near genocide against American blacks is the most obvious example.

When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic."
-Benjamin Franklin

"If ever this vast country is brought under a single government, it will be one of the most extensive corruption, indifferent and incapable of a wholesome care over so wide a spread of surface." --40)Thomas Jefferson to William T. Barry, 1822. ME 15:389
