Israel's border with the Gaza Strip is only 36 miles. What went wrong?

lololol because walls must be guarded. you cant just build it and forget it. a regiment or 2 might be enough for 36 miles.

the us mexican border? maybe more soldiers than we can possibly recruit, and if 1 of those soldiers is corrupt or needs to pay a debt? waste of money.

The Israeli guards are not on every linear meter of the "wall," and HAMAS simply chose a few sections that were lightly guarded, and used some pretty heavy duty construction equipment to breach.

They didn't have the military guarding it so that when it was breached no one realized it

A wall with no one standing post is not secure
Bingo. Just as in any military use of obstacles, obstacles (including walls) must be under observation or are easily breached.

Hamas blew holes in it and entire sections down. Concrete goes boom when you have enough Semtex. There were literally thousands of Hamas attackers. Thats like a brigade or two coming at the border patrol, and evidently Israel was more concerned about the West Bank.

The wall reportedly got hacked, so the sensors didnt go off to alert Israel. Normally the alarm would go off if you even just leaned a ladder up against it, let alone if you knock it down.

It is a deterrent and makes it more difficult to cross. Better a wall than nothing. Would have to be manned better to give faster reaction times.

No defense is fool proof. But No defense is Stupidity.
