The average citizen has no idea what is causing the climate to change, how fast it is changing or

how this is impacting them. Most people believe that CO2 emissions from power plants are the

primary contributor causing the atmosphere to act like the glass on a greenhouse. The reality is

that the CO2 emissions from cars are about equal to that of power plants in the U. S. This makes

every driver of an internal combustion engine vehicle a contributor to the problem. Car CO2

emissions do not just dissipate on the ground, they migrate up to the lower atmosphere where

they can persist for up to 1000 years.

The average citizen does not understand the difference between weather and climate either.

Weather happens real-time where climate is primarily a measure of land and ocean temperatures

over a long period of time. Some people believe that if the planet is really warming then it should

be warm everywhere. This is nonsense because the poles will always be cooler and it will always

be colder in winter. The Jet-Stream is moving more erratically now, bringing cold-fronts down to

Florida and sometimes extreme heat in North Dakota. Because the oceans are warmer now,

hurricanes are more frequent, extreme and earlier each year. More moisture is in the

atmosphere, so severe floods, hail storms and deep-snow are more common. Flooding events

are occurring somewhere in the U. S. almost every week. Maryland just had 1000-year floods for

2 years in a row. Texas just had record hailstorm damage, costing over $1B. High temperature

records are broken every year across the U. S. Wildfires are hotter and more common now.

These are not freak events of mother-nature. They are caused by long-term human activity. The

debate whether Climate Change/Global Warming is caused by humans is OVER. It is proven

science verified by experts worldwide.

Climatologists now have the analytical tools to attribute individual weather events to Climate

Change. For instance the severe flooding that was caused by hurricane Harvey in Houston has

been 100% attributed to Climate Change. The economic damage that Climate Change is causing

in the U. S. is rising every year. The estimated cost to the U. S. economy in 2017 is $300B, half

the budget for the U. S. military.

Even those that live in areas unaffected by hurricanes and tornadoes are being impacted. Besides the recurring wildfires here, the cost of food has been

increasing due to crop failures in Florida and lack of water in California. FEMA payouts for

weather disasters continue to increase each year, increasing our tax burden and/or adding to the

National Debt. Ocean warming is causing many wild fish and shellfish stocks to be endangered,

including the wild salmon fishery off the west coast. Many west-coast rivers don’t have runs

anymore. The incidents of insect-borne diseases including West Nile Virus, Zika, Dengue and

Spotted Fever have TRIPLED in the U. S. from 2004 to 2016. Air pollution is responsible for over

10 million deaths world-wide and 200,000 deaths in US each year, more than cigarettes, war or

famine.

Global Warming is now accelerating because we have reached a “tipping-point” caused by effects

that reinforce warming. Shrinkage of the ice-caps reduces the heat reflected back into space.

In addition to oil exploration, thawing permafrost releases Methane gas, a greenhouse gas 80 times more potent than CO2.

Forests, which along with the oceans are the ONLY absorbers of CO2, are shrinking at an

alarming rate due to wildfires and deforestation for farming. Global Warming is one of the top

threats to mankind. It’s time for everyone to take this seriously at the ballot box and in your

personal choices.

Most people might know but most also dont care. The evidence is stupifying! Best illustration of what voters think about climate change??

>>> :bigbed::bigbed::bigbed:

When might they care?

They'll care when travel agencies start booking vacations to the Arctic and not a moment sooner! When we start seeing travel brochures displaying pics of bikini clad babes water skiing on a Central Alaskan lake in mid-January, then we can have a discussion. Until then, any discussion is akin to deliberating on the lifestyles of folks in Middle Earth....gotta ensure The Shire stays safe!!:113:

Oh no!! Persistent CO2.

Yawn......Zzzzz…

So many errors spotted but you wouldn't know since you didn't make a factual case for any of it.

Please bring rational thinking to the forum next time.

What is definitely true is that I really could not care any less about climate change. Unless something changes dramatically, I have less than 30 years left in this lifetime. Nothing is going to significantly change in that time period. So why would I care?

Your whole premise is bull shit...

Lets start with CO2's residency time in our atmosphere... You say its upwards of 1,000 years while the facts and science has shown it is just 3-30 years at a maximum..

Next lets discuss your alleged warming... Current levels of CO2 at 400ppm are energy saturated. This means the molecule must release energy before accepting more... This means the molecules do not warm in our atmosphere and must have another molecule which can, such as water vapor...

Your premise is an epic fail at the most rudimentary levels.. Water vapor and conduction/convection has reduced warming to 1/2 of the LOG rate CO2 is seen to produce in the lab... so water vapor is acting as a negative forcing, not a positive one (as the IPCC fear mongers say), in our atmosphere..

Epic fail... Let me guess.. You used SkepticalShitScience and HotWhooper for your facts... Am I Right?

Every generation in history has created their own doomsday scenario to live with...
The sky is always going to fall some believe....no matter how many facts you throw at them they still want to believe the worse....some get paid dearly or gain great power from it and some are truly gullible enough to believe the worse...

You really should give attribution to your cut and paste.... The source is rather funny and tells me where you got your outright deceptive and fear mongering BS.... I refuse to send anyone to their sites...

Quoting sections from post ONE, that are utterly bogus, misleading or downright false:

"Most people believe that CO2 emissions from power plants are the

primary contributor causing the atmosphere to act like the glass on a greenhouse."

There is NO "greenhouse" set up in the atmosphere at all.

"The reality is that the CO2 emissions from cars are about equal to that of power plants in the U. S. This makes

every driver of an internal combustion engine vehicle a contributor to the problem."

Misleading! You left out 44% of the total amount:

Sources of Greenhouse Gas Emissions

"Car CO2 emissions do not just dissipate on the ground, they migrate up to the lower atmosphere where

they can persist for up to 1000 years."

False and misleading:

Reader Question: Does CO2 Disperse Evenly Around the Earth?

Residence times are less than 10 years:

Scrutinizing the carbon cycle and CO2 residence time in the atmosphere

"Because the oceans are warmer now, hurricanes are more frequent, extreme and earlier each year. More moisture is in the atmosphere, so severe floods, hail storms and deep-snow are more common."

False and misleading:

No increase in Hurricane and Tropical storms since 2005, and last year ended a RECORD landfalling hurricane drought that was 12 years long. Severe floods are NOT increasing either, just the shrill screams bout floods are on the increase. Increasing COLD and Snowy winters that contradicts the IPCC projections that stated it would be LESS snow and more rain/freezing rain.

" Flooding events are occurring somewhere in the U. S. almost every week. Maryland just had 1000-year floods for 2 years in a row."

Maryland had other similar floods several times in just the last 35 years, BESIDES the two you screamed over, man you are one warmist ignoramus!

Skipping the lies about U.S. Wildfires and other bullcrap to this provable lie since it didn't even break the all time record rainfall for a single storm:

"Climatologists now have the analytical tools to attribute individual weather events to Climate Change. For instance the severe flooding that was caused by hurricane Harvey in Houston has been 100% attributed to Climate Change."

No it was a STALLED storm due to a trough in place that slowed down the storm travel speed to a crawl, it was FORECASTED to stall because of existing weather pattern already in the region when Harvey came ashore.

Four Things to Know About Tropical Storm Harvey

Excerpt:

"Harvey's Stall Has Begun

Harvey made landfall Friday night, but its forward progress has now come to a crashing halt.

The National Hurricane Center expects Harvey to meander near the Texas coast through much of this week while weakening with time.

Harvey's long-awaited stall is due to weak steering currents in the upper atmosphere. For the next several days, Harvey will be caught in between a large area of high pressure in the western states and another area of high pressure extending from the western Atlantic into the Gulf of Mexico.

A southward dip in the jet stream across the eastern states is expected to miss out on ushering Harvey away, allowing the tropical cyclone to stall for days."

Skipped more of your unsupported bullcrap to this howler:

"Global Warming is now accelerating because we have reached a “tipping-point” caused by effects that reinforce warming. Shrinkage of the ice-caps reduces the heat reflected back into space. In addition to oil exploration, thawing permafrost releases Methane gas, a greenhouse gas 80 times more potent than CO2."

No it is NOT accelerating (hyperbole) it is warming at a rate MUCH lower than what the IPCC projected, with no increase in sight. Ice doesn't reflect heat at all, they reflect wavelengths of light.

CH4 is a feeble IR absorber, which is why it is hardly mentioned by scientists. The postulated warm forcing power of CH4 is negligible, far less than the already unimpressive postulated warm forcing effect of CO2.
